Did you update Transfer to the latest

You would export DN1 sounds/projects via Transfer and re-import via Transfer

Yesterday I got my new DN2 and the first thing I did was update Transfer to the latest version and then update DN2 to the new firmware (1.00A).

Secondly, I copied some of my old DN projects without any problem.

Then I wanted to transfer some of my original DN preset collection and I was unable to do it.
I tried to drag and drop the .syx files into Transfer app but no preset was copied to DN2.

My first thought was that some MIDI or USB settings needed to be changed on the DN2 itself, so I leave this preset transfering to another moment and started exploring the new machine.

Is it possible that Transfer 1.9 or firmware 1.00A has some kind of bug?

Dont send send the .syx files, send the .dnsnd files.

You find them here in Transfer:

That’s also what I suggested btw

I ve only syx,… Hmmm

Yes, i do that

you shouldn’t have the syx files from exporting a selection of sounds using Transfer

it would make more sense if you methodically document steps so we can see the step where this is not working out - it also allows people to test your steps

Ive buy some Projects, they are only available as syx

I use Transfer 1.9 with the First 1.9A DN2 Firmware

The Transfer works but i cant See any Files in the DN2

The files I have in my Digitone 1 preset collection are all .syx files.
I’ve tried downloading the packs I bought from Elektron again and this new downloads come with .syx and .dndns files.

But what about the third party preset collections I bought from other sound designers? I have packs from Miles Kvndra, Floyd Steinberg or OscillatorSink to name a few.
Is there any process to convert this .syx files into separate .dnsnd files that don’t involve copying them into a DN1 and then exporting the presets individually?

My DN1 is going to a second hand buyer and in a few days I’ll be no longer able to perform this operation. And is a bit tedious, to be honest.

if you don’t have a dn1 to export them then you are out of luck for now

you better import them, export them and erase them then - that’s your only option for now, or you will have to ask the vendor if they can send you a different compatible format

From your Elektron account you can download a zip file that contains all the sounds of dn and dn keys, 3 banks of sounds in total, but again there are only syx files. I have not sold the dn1 yet and I am moving all the individual sounds to the PC but it is a lot of work. Also, how to keep the default patterns of the dn1? They are beautiful and it is a shame to lose them.

Sorry but I’m missing something.
I’m trying to import those .syx files with Digitone presets into my Digitone 1 to export them later as individual .dnsnd files for transfering them into my Digitone 2 but I can’t.

Transfer version 1.9.5 on Mac doesn’t recognise those .syx files in the Explore view. When I navigate my SSD in the left column I can’t see the .syx files.

If I switch to the Drop view, I’m allowed to drag and drop the .syx file from a Finder window to the Transfer app, and a new window appears that let me send the .syx file to Digitone 1. I click on the “Send” button and the Digitone screen says that it is receiving sounds, but then when finished, those new sounds don’t appear on Bank C (which is now empty because I just formated the +Drive).

I remember copying this sounds into DN1 a long time ago using those .syx files via Transfer app.

This may not be relevant, but my experience with the M:C suggests that the sysex import will simply change the preset of your currently selected track. I guess this might be because the sysex only has the preset settings not the preset name. ?

May not be relevant, but might be worth a shot if you’ve no other way forward right now. (I will delete this if I’ve only confused matters).

Thanks for the reply but I don’t think that’s the case, because this syx that now are giving me problems were used months ago (or years ago) and all the presets were copied into DN1 without any hassle.

Try to use the SYSEX TRANSFER page.

Solved!
SYSEX TRANSFER page is the window that appears when I drag and drop a syx file from the Finder into Transfer.
What I forgot to do (before clicking the “Send” button) is go to Digitone’s setting menu and prepare the bank in which I want the sounds to be stored. SETTINGS > SYSEX DUMP > SYSEX RECEIVE and then select the BANK. And then, you can click “Send” button in the Sysex Transfer Window.

Wait… that means I don’t have to convert syx files into dnsnd files anymore.
I can do this same procedure with the new DT2, right??

When the Digitone came out, Transfer was not used to transfer sounds, the C6 app was used and the system was what you say, first you selected the bank directly from the Digitone and then you transferred the syx, I had completely forgotten about it :grinning:

So thank you,

I’ve send all syx to my Digitone 1.
Than export all data to my Mac/PC and than back to
my Digitone 2.

It works

Guys the dn1 “presets” file is a dnprj, can it be imported into dn2?
