I am currently using Transfer 1.8.6 with DT2 OS 1.01A
(Overbridge 2.8.4 but engine not running afaict)
I’m using the “Explore” view of the Transfer app, but most often drag and drop files from the (MacOS Sonoma) Finder to the “Explore” view.
For an hour now both Explore views are showing the DT2 folders, so I drop in the either of the views.
Max speed is 0.32 MiB/s, which is indeed extremely slow: it would take almost 18 hours to transfer 20 GB of data
Only 2 GB takes 107min !!!
Not a bug per se, but a very annoying aspect.
Good thing is I haven’t had a single failure while loading 5k+ samples, except with error “maximum file size exceeded” for 90+ MiB samples.
75.3 MiB seems OK, I wonder what the max size is…
I have managed to backup my A4 mk2 (OS 1.51C), absolutely no trouble.
Except the speed (0.03 MiB/s it says, for 101 KB projects or 650 B presets).
This may be good news (kind of!) … all the issues with Transferring samples to the D2 may actually be down to the new version of the Transfer app rather than the D2 itself. I’ve tried copying new sounds to and from my Syntakt tonight and I’ve had the same issues with the new 1.8 version of the app freezing and dropping connection to the Syntakt constantly. I’ve had to restart the app and the Syntakt multiple times to be able to transfer across a couple of hundred (1Kb!) files. I’ve never had these issues in the last 18 months so to me this suggests the Transfer app needs fixing and there’s potentially nothing wrong with the D2 (at least not the hardware!)
I’ve raised a support ticket and asked if it’s possible to get a copy of version 1.7 of the transfer app to use with the Syntakt (I stupidly didn’t make a backup before installing 1.8!)
I formatted my +Drive and did a factory reset. After this I was able to transfer 45000 files (2,5GB) in one go. My guess is that the latest Transfer is causing the problems and when the +Drive is corrupted, transferring and everything else becomes impossible due to crashes. Now I’m waiting this to be fixed before transferring more files.
I was also able to freeze Transfer and Digitakt II by doing something CPU intensive while the transfer was going. The Digitakt II was running during that test playing a 16th note pattern. The pattern slowed down, after which Digitakt II froze and Transfer froze as well. All I did was opening a browser with 50 tabs open.
My tests above were sending the already converted files from Digitakt to PC, then back to Digitakt. So my understanding is no conversion should be taking place. Also see: Digitakt 2 transfer speeds - #24 by garf
Well, you don’t have to use Transfer conversion.
I also take care of the conversion myself beforehand usually.
But let me know what tool you use to get your 44.1 kHz sound into 48 kHz?
Pretty sure Transfer uses ffmpeg in a way or another, anyway.
And I am sure many people wouldn’t tell the difference between either tool conversion.
OK. I have little knowledge about artefacts induced by Sample Rate Conversion, but have never noticed audible/annoying distorsion so far. https://src.infinitewave.ca/
But I am not an audiophile and my tinnitus is playing full time lately.
I’m noticing that if I press play on the DT II while transferring files, DT II freezes. I could recover by turning DT II OFF and back ON, and force quitting Transfer (On OSX)
