I’m after a 2nd PSU for the Digitone2, has anyone bought an additional one? I had one for the Digitone OG, but didn’t know it was a different fit. The Digitone OGs port is smaller than the Digitone 2’s it seems.

Hi, I wasn’t aware that the DC barrel size changed, but if it has and the power supply is spec’d the same between the first gen and second gen (same voltage, polarity, amperage etc) then I would just buy a barrel adapter as it will be far less expensive, and you already have a genuine elektron supply.
If it were me, I wouldn’t replace a genuine PSU with something of inferior quality, if at all possible.
Elektron generally uses a 5.5mm x 2.5mm barrel jack and I would imagine the one that you have from the OG is to that spec. I’m pretty certain the newer ones are the same, so maybe make sure nothing is obstructing entry of the plug into the jack?
In the event that you want to buy a non elektron PSU, anything with the correct sized barrel, 12V center positive and appropriate amperage to the original should be fine for you.
Just so that we’re on the same page, this is what I mean by a barrel adapter, you would need to determine the size of the original and the size of the new one. The center pin is the latter (smaller) number, and the width of the barrel is the first larger number. Like I said, elektron has typically used 5.5x2.5mm and that’s what all of my first gen elektron power supplies conform to.
Usually the issue is when you try to use a smaller internal diameter supply like for boss pedals which use 2.1mm internal width (they have a smaller pin) on something like an elektron with the 2.5mm pin, however the reverse is not true and usually you can use a 2.5mm internal diameter on a 2.1mm pin. It’s not a tight fit, but it works ok and stays in place because the outer barrel is the same.
You’d have to figure out which spec is wrong.
Thanks. It’s odd as it fitted the Digitone 1 and also fits my Digitakt 1, but not the Digitone 2. Maybe I’ll just order one from Elektron as you say and stick with their gear.
The Myvolts brand is also fairly well regarded and they do make a replacement power supply for digitakt II and digitone II, but I do think that if you ask elektron about the barrel size change, you can probably just get the adapter for $5 or however much and use your first gen power supply as a backup for the second gen. The elektron supply is guaranteed to cost 10 times that amount, however it would definitely be the most compatible replacement as it’s intended for their gear, just possibly not essential to do.

I have replaced several PSUs with MyVolts versions & have had no problems, in some cases their PSUs were better than the originals.
