Mode Confusion (Noob alert warning)

Hello all, this is my first post here. I apologize if this is a super noob question.

I’ve been using the Digitakt II for a year now, and I just ran into a situation where if I’m in the primary mode (the one where I’m idle with the stop activated), I usually press 1-16 and hear each sound associated with the slot. Now, on a specific project, when I press on those numbers, I only hear the same sound, and I can’t understand how to get out of there to hear all the sounds. Strangely enough, when I press the numbers, they don’t light up in red as usual.
What am I missing?

Sounds to me like you might be in chromatic or keyboard mode, not sure what it’s called on the DT2, so you are in a track and all the trigs are triggering the track sound, just with the pitch transposed by a semitone.

On a DT1, pressing Func+Trk turns it on or off.

Check also that you do not have the “Preset Pool” trig mode on and several of the same preset loaded in the pool. Consult the manual about trig modes and preset pool. Specifically on page 28 for this mode.

Thanks guys! I will have a search with these hints.

That was not it. Thanks!

Could also be the velocity trig mode.

Did you recently update the firmware to v1.10? If so, it may be something to do with the new Track Select functionality:

According to the release notes, they “Added an option in the PERSONALIZE menu that is called TRACK SELECT that lets you decide how to select tracks and how that action relates to triggering the sound of the track.”

Yes I just did the new firmware and also thought maybe it was something new as I never had that issue before. I will have to search to see how to handle this new feature because I’m so confused. thank you!

can you please tell me where to find more information? I can’t seem to find something explaining.

Dave Mech’s Deep Dive covers it when discussing the Personalise menu in this video (which should start for you at 14:22)…

It’s also covered on pages 81 and 82 in the updated manual which you can access and download at:

Hope this helps.
