Hello I am running into an issue configuring MIDI out from DT.
I am sending out midi to ableton and hoping what I am trying to do is possible.
sending from midi channel A to 1 track on ableton to program midi for a soft synth
trying to use subsequent channels to control other soft synth on different tracks in ableton
midi config is
sync (clock recieve, transport recieve,prog channel send)
ports are set to usb using usb to computer
channels 1-9
ableton track and remote are selected
DT channel SRC
(i think this is the problem but cant seam to change)
MIDA =SRC channel 1
MIDIB=SRC channel1
and so on for all the other midi channels
the problem im having is midi steps ploted on MIDIA and MidiB on DT are playing on both channels i have with diffent synths
seems to me I need to route Midi B to a different channel but can not figure out how to do this.
am i doing something wrong? please help and feel free to ask clarification
Hi,
Assuming that we’re talking about a Digitakt 1:
If you want midi A (track 9) to send on midi channel 1 and midi B (track 10) to send on midi channel 2, with track 9 selected you would need to set the SRC page chan parameter of midi A (track 9) to channel 1, then similarly on midi B (track 10) you will also need to set the SRC page channel setting to 2. If you have channel 1 selected on both tracks and both synths, they will each send data on channel 1 and your soft synths (both on 1) are receiving the data from both tracks simultaneously.
I’m not very familiar with setting up ableton, but the synth you want controlled by midi A should be set to receive on midi channel 1 and the synth you want to control with midi B (track 10) needs to be set to receive on midi channel 2.
Any subsequent midi track you intend to use for controlling ableton synths will need a unique midi channel assigned to it, and then the corresponding synth’s receiving channel set to match.
If they are currently starting with the sequencer as intended, however the issue is that both are playing each other’s sequences, I think that this is the only step you’re missing. Hope that will help.
Good luck.

thaNK you yes thats what I am trying to do BUT once I have midi a track 9 sending to channel 1, selecting midi b track 10 only gives option for 1. I cant seem to get anyother option other than X.
perhaps there is another setting prohibiting this?
OMG i got it i was holding func while selecting SRC, if i just hit func+src thern lift finger off Func i can do it…got them all set up thanks… face palm

Yeah my bad I should have mentioned to release func, it’s kind of an odd system and I think that the purpose is to prevent accidentally setting or changing midi channels when you don’t intend to. The result is you have to sort of tap dance the settings change.
Ok well glad you got it set. Sorry I missed this while I stepped away. Awesome that it’s working now.
Have fun!
