I just received a new Syntakt after sending a second-hand one back that was faulty. I noticed now that the ‘1’ button is yellow by default instead of the white of all the other number buttons. Is this by design for the newer Syntakts? My previous one had a white LED for button ‘1’.
I just did a device test and when I test the blue LEDs button ‘1’ is unlit. Seems like this unit is also faulty.
Hi
If you’re getting that result in the keys test portion of the pre-boot menu then it sounds as though one filiment color in the RGB bulb integrated into that button’s switch mechanism has burnt out, so that would be a physical issue with the device and to my knowledge would require replacement.
Thanks. Thought that might be the case. This is frustrating - it’s a brand new device and it costs me a substantial to send the device from South Africa back to Elektron.
I wonder if there is a way to have it fixed locally. I’ve reached out to Elektron so let’s see what they can suggest.
If it’s a brand-new device that’s definitely frustrating. I mean I could suggest things like reloading the firmware just in case it might help, but my interpretation of your results in test mode is that it’s a physical defect rather than a software defect. If you had all colors display the way they’re supposed to in the pre-boot menu’s tests, then I might look in the other direction, but the keys test which shows the lights in different colors is essentially performing a hardware test so hardware defect is the natural line to draw.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful, hopefully they can offer you a resolution which doesn’t require more shipping back and forth. Did you purchase it from Elektron directly or did it come from a retailer?
I got it from Perfect Circuit, not direct.
Thanks for your feedback @shigginpit. It’s helpful and appreciated, even if there isn’t a solution!
(I’ve already tried reloading the firmware and as expected that didn’t solve the issue. )
