Noob question - can only get sound from T1

Hi. first post and i’m a total beginner

i don’t know what i did, but i can only hear and get sound from T1. T2, T3 and T4 are muted. I can’t seem to un-mute them. arghhh i know it’s something simple but i can’t figure it out

thanks for any assistance.

Hi mate, try func + bank a couple of times and see if you’ve activated mute mode. Green mute is global, purple is per pattern.

thanks. i tried hitting func + bank - and all tracks lit up purple. i deselected them all. but still no sound …i only have sound from T1

im so frustrated…literally did a factory reset and still can’t get sound from Tracks 2 3 and 4

WHAT THE HELL

What are your voice allocation settings?

I’m not sure it will help but make sure that all voices are not allocated to track 1.

Hi,

Double tapping (tap tap) with bank held should make them go green. Green is a global mute, so check that as well.

Start a brand new test project. A new project will be unimpacted by the current project’s mute or voice allocation states. Let’s start from there and tell us the results once you get away from the project you’ve been working on.

Is this your first project on Digitone or do you have another which was previously functional? Did you have more tracks which worked on the current project and then suddenly stopped? Or were you never able to engage other tracks here in the first place?

It will help if we know the previous behavior so as to determine if we should be looking towards your interaction with the machine, or the machine itself.

Also, is this digitone 1? Digitone 2? Digitone keys? Monitoring with headphones?

Thanks

Can you step back and give more information about what you’re trying to do at a low level?

Are you using Overbridge? Are you using individual outs? Where are your outs going to? Or are you just using Main L/R outs?

I assume you are using the synth tracks and not programming on the MIDI tracks?

thank you for the replies. sorry if i came across grouchy.

starting a new project worked! and now i can use all 4 tracks again. i still don’t know what i did. but thank you @shigginpit for that suggestion. This is a Digitone 1 i’m using

@thermionic

at a low level i am simply trying to learn how to use the Digitone lol. like the basics…i am using overbridge via Ableton - outs are going to an audio interface (volt 2) Main L/R - i also have it connected via USB and am trying to understand Midi In/Out

Excellent! Now if you re-open the old project (assuming backed up and there’s anything useful in it) you can A/B the project settings.

Now that it’s resolved we can probably answer other questions as they come up.

Stuff happens man, no worries. First thing to do when you want to see if it’s the machine or the settings is try and reproduce the behavior without any settings attached to it - hence a new project.

Learning new things takes time, just be patient. It’s ok to ask questions as long as you’re learning from the answers and using the other resources which are already available to you.

The various mute modes on the Digitone are a notorious pitfall. I got hung up in there myself. I’d wager it’s the culprit in the project that was giving you trouble.

thank you all again. It’s good to know that there is a helpful community to reach out to

Yeah, and broadly try to work through one problem at a time, helps from getting overloaded.

can anyone suggest a tutorial video about the mute modes? all i can find are for the Digitakt…

off the top of my head, no, and ive also not got my DN or DT within miles of me so i cant test it.
HOld FUNC and double tap BANK to move between mute modes though, as far as i remember. the trig keys will light up different colors and if theyre not lit they may be muted, or vice versa…
DN has more colors than DT. i think theres a blue mute mode. never used it, but ive been stuck in it before.
All this info is in the manual, but that didnt stop me from getting hung up in there, and still do on occaision. Its easy to access different mute modes unknowingly at first, and very easy to do if drunk etc.
