Stuck in audio paste mode

Im trying to copy and paste audio from a recording buffer to a sample on another flex track. It also happens any time i copy and paste audio from anywhere to anywhere.

When i do, it pastes it ok, but the OT is then stuck in this mode. Pressing any button results in a Fn+press of that button. If i press the Fn button, then it gets out of the Fn+ mode, but pressing the stop button then attempts to paste the copied audio again. I cant get this to stop without rebooting the OT. See the youtube video below.

It for sure seems like a bug but maybe im missing something.

That has happened to me a few times. It is definitely not a feature, and it does not smell like a user error. Rebooting had always been the only way to fix it.

The ot is buggy in general, so keep that in mind.

Never came across any heavy bugs like this. Always thought the OT was fairly solid in my 10 years of owning one.

I’d rather say there are still bugs.

I could reproduce it pasting in a sample shorter than copied audio (recording buffer). Wasn’t it the case for you ?
Double stop fixed it.

Didn’t happen with non “recordingX” slots, long enough samples.

Ok so I figured it out. When pasting, you have to hold down the stop button until PASTING AUDIO disappears.

Weird that that’s the case, but it solves it.

Thanks for your replies.

Wait so in the video you’re copying the audio from track 1 to track 2?

Why are you using audio editor to do that?
Why not just copy track1 to track 2? And then edit track 2 to suit?
(Which is, I assume what you want)

I’m just demonstrating the issue.

I’m making sample chains by sampling into 1 and copy pasting to the end of 2.

btw, these “why don’t you just” replies make my blood boil.

Well my question was based on the information presented in your OP. Now we know you’re making sample chains by method you describe, there’s no need for that question.

Fair play to you for making sample chains in the OT. While yes it can be done, Ive always found it a painfully laborious procedure.

No need for boiling blood. Someone just tried to help you by pointing out a different way to copy audio. We didn’t know you were building chains.

I have to remember that holding down the button combo until the promt disappears works…

The only other operation that can bring OT down I have encountered so far is saving parts while the sequencer is running. It can downright freeze OT. I’ve made sure to only save parts when sequencer is stopped after my OT froze three times within two days.

Yeah I tried a few different ways which was more hassle than it’s worth but I find this way is fairly quick.

I’m constantly recording into T1 at 64 steps, once I get something I like, copy it to the end of T2 then keep recording into T1. Repeat until I have a 4-6 versions. Then save and slice.

Huh. Thats never happened to me.

Hasn’t happened on my OT for many years and then suddenly appeared. And even then my OT might work fine for months and then suddenly it crashed when I’d saved a part with seq running. There have been several firmware updates, maybe that’s a reason why it was fine for many years or maybe it’s related to something specific I did before that part saving. I’m not sure, I didn’t really test it.
