Analog Heat Mk1, Live 12, M1 Mbp USB dropouts. Does it work for you?

Hi everyone and a Happy and healthy new year.

After doing some research here in the Forum i am risking starting a new discussion to get the freshest feedback possible.

So i am using the Setup in the title. Also OS is Ventura if that makes a difference.

I just bought a used AH Mk1 and testing it but need your help in order to troubleshoot in order to know if i have a faulty device.
I have installed the latest firmware and latest overbridge version.

Also tried connecting via Usb Hub but also directly to the macbook with no Hub in between.

If i connect it via TRS cables i have no issues .
If i use OB inside ableton then i noticed i have something that sounds like hickups-dropouts
The sound does not get muted but it sounds like back in the day when i had a slow computer and some projects caused it to overload and the buffer went crazy.
My feeling is that it is software related

So what i want to know is, How many of you have OB as a plugin in ableton working flawlessly ?
Or is this a wider known „issue“ in which case i will know that it is what it is?

If its a software issue, will the Mk2 AH work better cause its newer?

I’ve a similar setup (bitwig though) but seemed to be getting issue more with my ARmk2, have you tried adjusting the buffer in overbridge? I didn’t manage to resolve the issue entirely and have I’ve subsequently decided to put up with it until I can add more inputs to my interface and stop using overbridge entirely. I’ve not tried audio over usb as I don’t think it works for my use case, given the limitation of the implementation.

Not sure I understand. „Limitation“? I find it amazing (if it would work flawlessly) cause it feels like a plugin so you have total recall per project and need only a usb cable so much cleaner.

„Audio over midi“ you mean audio over usb ?

Buffer in OB could not find it- dont see where i could change it?

Of course. My morning coffee was yet to take effect.
There are some channel limitations with how it’s implemented for the AR.

You can change buffer size in Overbridge Control Panel, it’s a separate app.

I am lmao

I was looking at OB only never had opened the Control Panel only „Engine“ and thought thats it

I had exactly the same experience just the other day, seems like a bit of a strange decision to split the control panel stuff into its own app.

„the same experience“ with the drop outs? or forgetting that there are multiple apps in order to do more or less one thing?

Check if it’s set to the same sample rate as your OS and Daw.

I have 3 new devices (synths, compressors etc) that i am juggling at the same time.

I am a bit lost and overwhelmed tbh.

  1. Where can i see sample rate? I think i am missing some page i havent seen-cant find .
I cannot see Sample rate settings anywhere for the AH
  2. Isn`t there a way to dimm the LEDs like on my DT2?

Need to search better

Ps: Reading the manual. I cannot find any Sample rate settings for the AH

Hey Simple, I’m sorry I wasn’t very clear on my first post.

I’m not sure how it’s on MacOS since I’m on Winblows but my OS audio settings are set to 48khz and when Live was at 44khz I was having the same problems as you. But after setting Live to 48khz everything was fine. Hopefully this helps.

I just set this up in a Macbook M1 pro yesterday and so far it works flawlessly. Heat MkII, newest overbridge and newest Heat OS, newest version of Ableton 12 and newest Sequoia OS.
