this has been happening few times now but i thought it had to do with my network…now i’m starting to think it is not :
i login normally, read messages in the forum, start to reply to a message, click on ‘Post reply’, cursor starts to spin and button goes grey; waiting for message to be sent, waiting, waiting…i reload the page after a while only to find out that i’m logged out
You have to parameter lock the txt (command-a,comand-c) before you press send, 1st lesson for lengthy replies i find i’m only logged out when i log in to other devices in between times ! But basically, the xperience of negotiating this site is time consuming and testing …
I just don’t want to start a new topic, sorry guga, but I have been logged out from my PC and can’t seem to log back in… getting a prompt which says “please wait before trying to log in again.”
I’m still logged in on my tablet (confirmed after trying to resolve the issue on my own and obviously that’s how I’m able to create this post). I don’t usually have issues logging back into a PC after the automatic logout phenomenon, in fact sometimes it seems to automatically log me back in as well, however this time it’s not working.
Cleared cookies, cleared cache and temporary files. Closed and reopened browser. Did a little dance and drank a little water. Nothing.
For whatever it’s worth, this just happened to me on my desktop.
Checked on my phone, where I was still logged in, then a few minutes later went back to the desktop and was able to login normally.
Thanks man, I messed with it for about 30 minutes trying to get past this but I’ll keep waiting and see what happens. This is the first time it’s taken this long without being a site wide issue (which obviously this isn’t), thought perhaps I was overlooking something. I’ll just be patient, thank you.
Yeah there is something screwy, and it’s been that way for a while. I find something about a second device login will lock up with my screen name if i fluff the password once, but then i can get in with my email address. Not totally sure of this, 'cuz who knows when they fluff a password, but being extra careful has helped.
Thank you Jukka, I’ll try with email instead. I can confirm that the login info was correct but it may be stuck in a loop and currently referencing something from the username/password login attempts as I’m finding that the error is persistent in telling me to wait before trying to login again, so maybe that’s an indication that it remembers my previous attempt(s).
Update: it sent me an automatically generated email with a link to login from, after clicking the link it takes me to a secure page which says “finish login”, which I clicked and got a new error which says “you’ve performed this action too many times. Please wait 11 minutes before trying again.”
Soooo guess I’ll be giving a status update in 11 minutes.
Sorry for being so non specific. Former software tester so i know how to nail down a bug report, but i never bothered to work this one out, i just bang on it until it works, and i’ve always found a way in.
It was helpful that once I broke the stochastic loop and took the email path, that it generated a different response and gave me a specified timeframe so that I didn’t continue to pick at the scab.
I usually assume that these are problems with the discourse server software as opposed to problems with Elektronauts specifically but who really knows.
Yeah, a bit of the old ultraviolence next up on my list.
