Back in January 2004, Apple introduced Garageband and I decided that maybe making music could be my new hobby. After 20 months of using Garageband I graduated to Logic Pro and making music became what I call an “advanced hobby”. Two and a half years later I decided that I was going to learn how to program my own synth sounds and that eventually lead to acquiring my first hardware instrument, the Access Virus. The Virus seemed like the right choice for me because it has a software controller that makes using it somewhat similar to using a software synth. The Virus is a great synth, but it doesn’t have a built-in sequencer and that’s where Elektron gear comes into the picture. Overbridge makes the same kind of control possible with the Elektron instruments and I was hooked. Currently, I’m just getting started with my new setup and I’m excited about the possibilities my Elektron gear has to offer.
