The BITWIG Thread

I went to have a poke around and while I like the idea of having a place to share this kind of dialogue, I have no interest in sharing any personal information about myself, so it looks like it’s not for me. Best of luck at skool.

Why not use a pseudonym? Let a creative alter ego rip.

I haven’t had a chance to really explore yet, but fwiw i was able to sign up as get.up.trinity (which is not the name on my driver’s license) and I was also able to set Jem (of And The Holograms) as my profile pic. It’s not trying to be facebook.

Trying out the “steps” for the first time.

Interesting, but I see this as an equivalent to the click bait / engagement farming posts on X or FB (e.g. “what happens in your head when you’re adding 15+23?” type posts).

Also, since it’s supposed to be a “school” community, formatting posts like that implies the author is never the one who can teach someone something. Instead, they have to pretend they want to learn, even if in reality they want to and are in a position to share. It doesn’t sound genuine, if it’s enforced. It’s like the “if you can’t be positive, say nothing” rule.

No - not pretend… Really, sincerely want to learn.

It’s not about TEACHING primarily. It’s about LEARNING.

There are many other places online to be “the teacher”. You can go and make a YouTube channel if that’s the case.

Like this you get many perspectives/approaches/opinions about one topic with no single one of them hierarchically seen as the right one. It is up to you, the reader, to “pick” which one - if any - resonates most.

We had our first Zoom meet up last night which was really fun too

We’re pretty far of the topic of Bitwig at this point. If we want to talk meta about the policies of other forums and how we might want to apply them here, might I suggest:

I shall take this moment to dip out graciously :pray:t2:

Happy Bitwigging friends!

What sort of wizardry have people been doing with project remotes/modulations? I love having this as an option for global controls.

Haven’t delved too deeply into it yet but it’s cool to get a global chance knob using a macro for humanize modules. This is a useful performance tool for me that I was hoping would be possible.

Global chance is a GREAT idea!

I’m a big fan of creating multiple macros - each taking the main “feel” of the track somewhere else; smaller, bigger, wetter, tighter.

Then mapping the macros to a Vector-8 or Select-4 so as to have an XY pad/fader that moves the track through different sections of an arrangement basically.

Oh good call. Will def have a go at that.

Taches made a good youtube video domonstrating that technique, seemed really nice and smart way to use the project level macros

Wouldn’t this be awesome for Bitwig 6 (or Bitwig 5.4) ?

Yes indeed, send them a feature request including a screenshot.

Nice, a good limit to break. Add automation lanes between them too :upside_down_face:

Yes! Pretty please request this ASAP

Would be awesome if they made inter-track modulation a more prominent feature too

I’d rather see a tree / node view for single track’s devices, because it often gets pretty confusing when using multiple splitters, layers and selectors.

Although - similar to your request - it would be great if Bitwig introduced a new “screen” (in addition to Arrange, Mix and Edit; or as part of Mix) where the user could collect and arrange to their liking controls from different tracks & devices (knobs, buttons, faders, x/y pads, etc.) for live / touch performance.
