What cloth to clean screen on DN2

What cloths do people use to keep DN2 (or 1) screen clean.

Ive tried microfibre and they just seem to leave marks/smears?

Cotton, always cotton.

Yeah, ive been using cotton microfibre but that causes smears.

A T-shirt , whatever I’m wearing at the time.

Microfibre cloth, never had problems, not only for Elektron synths but for phone, glasses, camera lens, macbook screen etc.

Glasses cloth.

Yeah same but they seem to be leaving marks on the dn2 screen.

Maybe I just need a better quality cloth.

If you still have the factory screen protector on, it’s natural that it leaves some marks. As the protector is not glass / hard plastic, but rather a soft plastic

No screen protector on.

Tbf I’ve just used my lens cloth for my DSLR lenses and it worked great. :+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2:

No such thing - microfiber is a polymer, cotton is a plant based fabric.

I buy ¥500 patterned cotton handkerchiefs when I’m in Japan for cleaning optical surfaces. They usually need to be laundered a few times before they start to work really well.

I also use Zeiss screen wipes and spray for glasses, iPad / iPhone and Macbook screens, but have never needed to use them on my synths screens.

For most stuff I use Glassex, or whatever similar your country has. Water with a tiny bit of mild cleaning agent, no abrasive material. Usually leaves no streaks, and I use it on my laptop, TV, monitor, sunglasses, my motorcycles. I guess I’d try that. Only use a damp cloth, don’t ever spray on the device directly. — Mind you, I haven’t used it on my Elektrons yet, so I cannot 100% say it won’t leave a spot, but so far it hasn’t damaged anything I cleaned it with —

My girlfriend likes to use Dasty, which is sort of similar but lemon juice based (I think), but I don’t like that stuff at all…feels sort of greasy and sticky, and still leaves streaks on glass. Otherwise you could use a damp cloth with distilled water. Can’t get more harmless than that I guess, although it might still leave streaks(?)

What?

I dont get it.

You lot clean your screens? What in the fuck for? Are you smearing shit on them?

I never touch my DT II screen so unless someone else does it I usually don’t need to clean it

I usually have a can of compressed air at hand so that’s my preferred method, fingerprints happen though so it’s good to have options.

why is it that every time you buy a piece of used gear it’s like the last person licked the screen bezel and then put their fingers all over it?

In case of his Glassex stuff, it contains the following according to the manufacturer:

  • Aqua
  • PROPYLENE GLYCOL BUTYL ETHER
  • Methoxyisopropanol
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Capryl Glucoside
  • Ethanolamine
  • Sulphuric Acid, mono-C10-1alkyl esters, sodium salts
  • Ammonium Hydroxide
  • 1-butoxypropan-1-ol
  • Parfum
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate
  • Colouring Agent

It is low concentration. Only thing I always do is wipe it dry, otherwise the blue dye might leave blueish stains (that is easily removed). Anyway, never had any issue with this. But on the Elektrons I never touch he display, so a reading glasses cloth or slightly damp cloth or kitchen towel is enough.
