I’m a big fan of Overbridge and it makes using my Rtym MKII with Cubase much easier.
Cubase has an incredible midi editor especially in drum mode and I would love to be able to create a song on the Rytm making use of the Elektron sequencer and then have the to drag that midi from the Overbridge application in to a midi track in Cubase for further tweaking.
Another great drum machine SD3 has this ability and it really helps with composing drum parts.
Hi, welcome to the forum. Try adding your request in the existing thread and I’d also encourage you to send this to the direct email feature-request@elektron.se for more immediate attention, it’s a good idea although a little more complicated to implement than you’re making it sound.
I don’t have a RYTM but recently I was told that there is an option in the trig menu that you can turn on which will send midi from your RYTM sequence (didn’t know this until just the other day) so is it possible you can just record the midi into cubase directly since drag and drop is something that probably won’t happen until pretty far down the line?
Here’s some information I copied from a different thread, I can’t really clarify because I’m just passing it along so hopefully this is enough to get you started:
in TRIG-Menu (access via FUNC+TRIG)
All the Tracks can be set to “TRK 1-12 SEND MIDI … ON”
—NOTE: This has to be done for all Patterns individually!
-----------So if already set for Pattern A-1 and working,
-----------when switching to A-2 (or any other) TRK SEND MIDI needs to be checked ON again.
-----------COPY and PASTE will also transfer TRK SEND MIDI setting!
And equally important,
Under: Settings - Midi-Config - Port-Config:
Set: Output Ch … TRK CH
Set: PAD Dest … INT+EXT
Using Overbridge, you can record Audio AND Midi at the same time.
Create a pattern on RYTM2 and transfer to DAW.
Use RYTM2 with your favourite VST drums…
And also the other way around:
Program a beat in DAW and send to RYTM2 hardware individual tracks!
Thanks for this, I just found it in the manual and will give it a try in the morning.
TRK SEND MIDI will, when checked, send the tracks note on/off (NOT, LEN) and VEL, sequencer data
to the Analog Rytm MKII’s MIDI OUT for control of external MIDI devices. The MIDI data is sent on the
track’s MIDI channel that is set in the CHANNELS menu. For more information, please see “14.4.3 CHAN-
NELS” on page 63.
• If TRK SEND MIDI is checked, the track sends the sequencer data both externally over
MIDI and internally to the tracks sound.
• Only the sequencer data for note on/off (NOT, LEN) and VEL parameters are sent over
MIDI.
Though this sounds like it send MIDI for each track to its own MIDI channel (No problem in Cubase you can handle multiple channels as if they were one)
Cool, but honestly you should still submit your feature request because it’s a bangin idea. I can’t promise they’ll put it first on the change list, but I think that a lot of people using overbridge with any number of elektron devices would think that’s a pretty good addition to have drag and drop midi sequences.
