Hey! I am new to Elektron gear and wanted to see if anyone else has solved this issue.
I have a Digitone keys and I want to be able to copy the current pattern into a new pattern slot without having to change to a different pattern slot to paste it.
The plan is to create a new variation of a pattern on the fly while performing, but right now I have to copy pattern, then Switch patterns to an open slot and then the tempo and sounds all stop and I quickly paste and then it’s ok, but there’s a split second where it is blank before the paste.
Maybe I should read the manual again and it’s something easy… anyways hoping someone has figured this out. Thanks!
You are on the playing pattern that you want to copy, press and hold PTN+ press and hold the active pattern number key, and then press Record/Copy, and release all buttons.
Then press and hold PTN+ the pattern number key that you want to paste the pattern to, and while holding them down, press and hold the Stop/Paste button until the paste pattern confirmation finished happening, which takes a few seconds.
Then release the PTN and the pattern number key.
You will still be on the playing original pattern, and you can switch to the new pattern where you have pasted a copy to.
I have another copy paste question that is specific to the Digitone keys. I have my midi ext setup in a particular project and I’d like to copy those settings to another project. I tried all sorts of combos of holding the ext setup key+copy, ext setup+func+copy and none of them seem to initiate a copy command. I also was hoping to do this with my map setup as well. Maybe it’s not possible?
Hey, it has probably not been implemented if it isn’t documented but if you want a specific answer like that, I’d probably encourage you to edit your title to something very deliberate like “Is it possible to copy just the ext setup MIDI settings for DNK across projects?” to better represent your current question.
You can word it however it makes sense to you, but you’re more likely to get a digitone keys owner to look at this if you indicate that that is the focus of your question.
You can always email elektron support directly, but someone here still might be able to confirm for you. I don’t rightly have an answer, but I would guess that it would be documented if possible.
If none of the possible button combos seem to work (it would probably be just Function+Copy when midi ext menu screen is open, have you tried that one?), maybe you can save an empty project with just your midi setup as a template that you then save under a new project name into a new project slot to start with that setup?
Good point about making a new specific post. I’m not super practiced in forum contributions haha.
In this case It seems it may just not be possible and I think I have to resort to what schnork said to just build out my project as a template and work from that in the future. Not a huge deal.
