Trouble connecting Digitakt to FL Studio via Overbridge

So I’ve been using a Digitone and Digitakt together recently and love them both. It took a while but I figured out how to hook the DN up to FL Studio via Overbridge. I’ve attempted to do the same thing with the Digitakt and have had no luck. I’ve watched youtube tutorials, I had ChatGPT walk me through it, nothing worked.

The issue is that Overbridge doesn’t recognize the Digitakt hardware. The DAW is getting some information - if I go to the mixer I’m able to select each of the eight tracks on their own mixer channel so the DT is at least being recognized there. But when I record nothing happens, when I open Overbridge (both in the DAW and as the standalone app) the DT isn’t shown and the DAW doesn’t automatically pick it up.

I tried turning the auto-select for devices off in the standalone app then selecting the DT from the list manually under ASIO drivers. the DT is listed there as an option but when selected says “Can’t start device”.

I tried looking the DT up in the Device Manager. It appears but has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point next to it. The device status says “the device cannot start (code 10)”. I downloaded the driver from Elektron and attempted to update it but got the same message.

I tried different USB inputs, I tried different cables. I uninstalled and reinstalled Overbridge.

I don’t really know what to do at this point. The Digitone worked fine with the software. The Digitakt is showing up in the computer but there’s something that’s preventing the software from registering it and I can’t figure out what.

If anyone had any ideas I’d be eternally grateful.

Hi, I think that you’ll need to be more specific about your computer, your operating system, the OB version, your digitakt firmware version, your digitakt’s generation (1 or 2) and your digitakt USB settings. Other things to take note of are whether or not your digitakt is recognized by the transfer software and if it is not, does it become visible in transfer when you disable overbridge mode (switch to usb midi/audio)?

As an audio interface digitakt is plug and play, so it carries it’s own drivers and overbridge is a software suite of sorts which makes use of digitakt’s USB audio and midi capabilities however it is only necessary for multi-tracking and not for recording to a stereo track in your daw, so essentially any additional software or drivers would be related to overbridge use and not the basic USB audio or midi functionality.

If you disable overbridge mode and select usb midi / audio instead, can you then select digitakt as an audio interface and add it to a track in fruity loops? If you haven’t tried that, give it a shot and attempt to record some audio. If it isn’t detected, if possible, you should also try the same thing in another daw (if you have any other daw like audacity or whatever).

Unfortunately I know absolutely zero about fruity loops so I can’t help you there but it sounds to me like you know what you’re doing and you’ve successfully used digitone in this way with favorable results, so to me it sounds more like either a conflict between versions or perhaps your computer has a very high security level and while it is not displaying the warning, has quarantined something which is a part of overbridge or the digitakt drivers and is awaiting approval. I don’t know what computer and OS you use but I’ve read that Mac tends to do something like this, however I don’t know anything about Mac so I can’t really give you any guidance there other than a general direction to look in.

Realistically, I think that it would be worth your time to submit an inquiry about this to elektron support through the contact form in your user account on elektron.se, and if you fill in the blanks here on elektronauts about the specifics of your setup and versions then maybe another user who has some experience using DT with FL will be able to spot the conflict, I probably can’t be of much help on that front but if I can then I’ll be glad to give it a try.

I think that it’s most likely a conflict of versions where your dt firmware version and your ob software version are not compatible. I think that’s more likely than overbridge being incompatible with your system given that DN was working, however I can’t say for sure and it’s impossible for me to guess at the specifics.

See if you have the most current firmware and OB version and update them both if necessary, also try using DT as a standalone audio interface (stream audio directly from the DT to a stereo track after disabling overbridge mode in the DT settings menu), also check the status of whether digitakt is recognized by transfer and what you might have to do in the dt menu to make it recognized. After you do those things, you should be in a better position to troubleshoot from, and it might even resolve the issue but again, I don’t know and I have zero experience with fruity loops so all I can imagine is that what is good for the proverbial goose is good for the gander and therefore digitone working with OB in your current setup implies that the system as a whole is not the issue.

I can’t even say if this will help but if you’re asking for ideas there’s a couple.

Welcome to elektronauts and good luck!
