Can A4 do sh101 style sequencing?

I don’t know what the term for it is but can the analog four mk2 do sequencing similar to the sh101 where it records the notes you punch in sequentially? I know you can just press the buttons but I’m disabled and it would be a huge help if i could just record the keys in order without needing to play them live, if not i guess it’s a suggestion I’m now making… I’ll hook up my keystep and practice playing it i guess I’m trying to program polynomial C now. Thanks for any help. Luckily it at least it sets the last played key as the key that the sequencer places as a trig so it’s doable regardless it’s just that the sh101 style would speed things up a lot.
Thanks-Mike

Open the manual and search for ‘Step Recording’ mode, I think that that is what you are asking for but don’t know the SH101, so can’t be certain.

As mentioned, I believe the step sequence approach is what you’re looking for. Hope it helps - good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

This is what I was looking for! I just can’t find how to do it in the manual, but I’m halfway there now that i know what it’s called so thank you for that!

You press Record and then press Stop while keeping Record held. Similarly if you want to use Live Record mode you hold Record and press Play.

…take ur time… elektrons stepsequencers are all the same and the most flexible ones out there to find…step by step sequencing AND parameter locking will take u anywhere…promise.

I have been using an octatrack mk 2 for years and had several other elektron boxes the issue is more that i became disabled in 2017 which added a new layer of difficulty to the sequencer lol I’ve been figuring out ways to work around it though

One last question how do you insert rests?

In Step Record mode, select the step you want to place the rest on and press No / Reload

To remove a trig or to add a rest (no trig), position the active step on the trig that you want to re- move or add a rest to, and then press [NO/RELOAD]. The active step then automatically advances to the next step

You’re awesome! Not sure why I didn’t try no initially but probably tried just about every other modifier key lol

I think also you can use arrow>right for rest if I’m not mistaken (it just goes to the next step) - sorry if incorrect

See pages 40, 41 in the A4 manual.

What’s really fun is that you can leave the step record on while the machine is playing. See the JUMP mode as well.
