Elektronauts get a fresh update! . . [ Read OP for issue resolution ]

update(s) very much welcome, especially the chat (hopefully it’ll work at some point) :smiley_cat:

Congrats @david and team for hard work.

Remark : I don’t think the bell icon is necessary for every new post notification.
It makes harder to see other types of notifications.

On the contrary, I think it would make sense to have a specific notification icon when there is a reply to a personal post. I already asked for it years ago.
The only way I found to check easily personal replies is to bookmark Profile > Notifications > Replies.

Edit : Just saw one “personal reply” icon ! Thanks for adding it !

I don’t get it, no one else seeing the font size problem?

I’ve tried two different machines and four browsers, incognito mode, nuking every cache I know of

Since they haven’t enabled the AI summary feature, I’ve summarised the incredibly repetitive posts in this thread

Dark mode gone. Solution: read the first post in the thread

Can’t login on Safari. Solution: read the first post in the thread

Concerned about AI. Solution: read the first post in the thread

Upset about the “News” link in the top menu on mobile, and no “Forum” link? Edit: this is fixed now! Tough titties. Nothing about this in the first post. You need to click News, then Forum, or the burger menu then Topics. I found switching to desktop mode gives the old menu at the top, which includes “Forum”. Click the burger menu, click the screen icon at the bottom:

I just tried, same thing - no change.

Thanks!
I thought I was going crazy.

So this setting does nothing?

@david, shouldn’t the “replies” icon on the right list personal replies ? (yellowed)
It seems to list “new post” only…
(maybe already mentioned ?)

How do I go to the main ‘forum’ header ? On my header, I only see ‘news’ now (iPad and iPhone)

Yeah, it’s a bit shit.

Hit news, then it’ll show forum, then hit that.

I’m sure they’ll get it sorted.

Interesting, wonder if whatever Discourse anti-bot feature might be getting triggered. Anyone else use a different VPN and have this login issue?

This new uniform is really working out well for me. :joy:

And the site update is looking nice, congrats! :beers:

In a nutshell, I wasn’t able to login after the site update. I tried this on three wifi networks, with no joy. It turned out not to be related to the update; it’s just that, since I last logged in (many months ago, as I leave it logged in) I’ve since installed Cloudflare Warp, a proxy client that makes your internet connection faster, more secure and private.

So if you use Warp, or anything similar, or probably some VPNs, and you’re getting the above issue, this might be the reason. Momentarily disabling Warp, then logging in to Elektronauts, then switching Warp back on fixed the issue for me.

Hope this helps someone!

Had a similar issue on Safari Mac running Adblock Pro. Fix for me was:

  • Website Settings → uncheck “Enable Content Blockers”
  • Adblock Pro → Pause Blocking for this site

Same issue on iOS (iPhone and iPad).

Posting here in case others have had the same problem…

Solution is:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Safari settings, scroll down to the Privacy and Security section
  3. Look for the Hide IP Address tab
  4. If this is set to “Trackers and Websites”, change it to “Off”
  5. Login to Elektronauts (this should now work fine)
  6. Once logged into Elektronauts, go back to Safari settings and turn Hide IP Address back to “Trackers and Websites” (if that’s what you use… I recommend you do).
  7. You should now be able to go straight into the Elektronauts site each time you visit from now on. Safari will remember your login and password and the IP address tracking blocker shouldn’t matter (doesn’t for me, anyway… it works). If at any point you need to login again, repeat the process above.
