I could be wrong, but I recall the topic coming up recently where mods said that, if implemented, the things meant by “AI features” were things like a prompt that automatically looks for similar threads / questions to suggest before someone makes a new thread for a topic or question that’s already been posted a bunch. Things handled entirely by clever server code, not large language model or GAN stuff. I’m fine with stuff like that, if implemented well and tastefully.

what does opt-in even mean? 99% of the AI features do not respect opting-in, they are scanning full threads regardless, will it skip my comments if someone is not opted-in? quoted texts? don’t think so…
most of the stuff described in the Discourse AI plugin is not personal, it’s site-wide, so yeah… directly giving human generated discourse into hands of these companies, handing out personal knowledge, experience, support and whatnot.

Thank you for this, I look forward to having the “back” button work on mobile again. I’m sure I’ll find benefits in many of the other upgrades.
But not the AI. If there is anywhere I can go to register my permanent opposition to any such features, please tell me.
