@mlin you might want to hide your track until we get an answer from @KingDuppy @BLKrbbt

Crap. Sorry. Did not know. Track hidden.
They don’t have to be anonymous.
Buuuut… keeping it anonymous does make it feel a bit more democratic/unbiased, and helps avoid unconscious bias. And it also adds a nice surprise element when you find out who made what.
So. As organizer and MC of this battle, I would suggest or request that we keep the tracks anonymous, but I won’t require it to participate.
I also heartily encourage posting failed tries, experiments and outtakes (though maybe only after voting?)
I was going to post a bunch of my abandoned sketches here as “sneak previews” this week but work got too hectic, and also one of them redeemed itself and now may be the leading track… we’ll see how I feel about it in a few days…
I will say… don’t post about how you made the track here (unless it’s not your final entry).
Once all the entries are in, there will be a separate voting thread. People tend to post their track breakdowns there, so if you post it here, it’ll get kinda lost once we move over to the new thread.
It’s easier to read and compare when all the explanations are in the same thread.
I’m fine with things being anonymous ;). And I won’t be getting back to the track, so I guess it’s my final entry. I can repost content later if needed ;).
Sooo, should I DM you the mp3?
Yes, please!

Edit: Wrong take; replaced.
Here is something from this morning, dt2 for drums and Deluge for some synths
“The Middle Finger”
Recorded live, single take.
Bongos & vocals on the SP404
AR for everything else
Atmospheric noises are a combination of vinyl surface noise, slowed-down Bobby McFerrin breaths, and stuff from Hex Cells and Crematorium Sounds.
This is probably the setup I’ll be using for my final entry—AR driving SP404. The digitakt didn’t get along with the bongo samples, but I think if I import the chops from the 404 back into the DT it’ll like them more. The lack of after-the-fact trimming on the DT is kinda killing me here.
I’m cooking…
Low on time, but big on bongos!
Hopefully pull some scraps together by deadline
I have only registered to participate. Usually only reading threads here but I really like the people of elektronauts. Really love the idea of this challenge and thank you @KingDuppy for organizing everything.
I can’t put anything together I like well enough for a formal entry. Hoping to get something but it’s looking grim. Maybe I’ll end up with a killer loop and just submit it as an unofficial entry.
I’ve submitted my track, I like what I’ve put together, definitely time to cut it loose though, like I mentioned to our host I could piss around with it endlessly but I’d probs end up making it worse kudos to everyone giving it a crack, them bongos are hard to place in a dnb track convincingly imho… if any of you guys have managed to make a break with them then you defo have my respect…
Welcome aboard
Thank you!
Go for it, man! I can promise my track is crap :). Do it for the funzies :).
It’s been a struggle here as well, not gonna lie. But I submitted just to prove to myself that I could do it. Yolo, I guess.
My solution was to use a couple of different snippets as very quiet percussion, and a couple of vocal samples. But if you remove the bongos from my track I’m not sure it would sound very different!
Because it’s DnB it’s not easy to use a very prominent Bongo Break as a main feature as you would do in hiphop or a slower breakbeat style.
For my part I’ve made quite a conventional track and then sprinkled in a few bits of additional percussion using samples from the record. I think that’s fine.
Same here, my breaks were busy enough, so I used the bongos more as an atmospheric element…
