I saw a thread on a different forum that hasn’t been super active and I thought this would be a good idea for Elektronauts.
Sure max for live devices aren’t usually free, but they are certainly much cheaper than the eurorack equivalent!
I’m really looking for something similar to morphagene in max for live, but haven’t found anything just yet. Also this certainly doesn’t need to be just for Eurorack modules. Add anything you’d like!
I’ll start:
Instead of DFAM:
Fors Dyad
Instead of Mutable Instruments Plaits:
Ringtone.tools
PL4L II
Instead of XAOC Odessa:
Rainbow Circuit Rift
Instead of Mutable Instruments Clouds:
Jikay Cloudy
Hopefully others who use Max for live will join in here.
This is a great idea! Having just switched to Ableton/Max a month ago to fight GAS, I’ve actually got a running list of Max devices to try out, sorted by their function. I’ve mostly just looked at a few developers who make particularly interesting or well-crafted devices, so this barely scratches the surface. This blog post of great devices has also been really helpful for me.
Sorry for the lack of links, but they should be easy to find. Free devices are marked with an asterisk.
Oscillators & Noise Sources
Fors Opal (FM percussion)
Fors Lode (TB 303)*
Fors Pluck (Karplus-Strong string)*
Iftah Pyr (also Karplus)*
Rainbow Circuits Crush (digital percussion)*
Rainbow Circuits Rift (additive synthesis)
Creative Modulation
Rainbow Circuits Orbit (synced LFO)
Encoderaudio Turing Machine*
Basically everything by Kentaro.tools (but expensive)
Love this thread! Currently going through a move towards ITB and selling a lot of my hardware. Cocoquantus is going today, so I’m looking to find something max based to replace that.
On the fence about my perkons too, need to explore the fors opal ctrl a bit more and see if that and some midi controllers can be a potential replacement.
I’m kinda interested how much of these fancy m4l devices also work with push too
Adding to that, if you have 12 Suite, MIDI tools by Philip Meyer are also good for chopping samples and generally adding to what Ableton has in place there too.
