Jamuary 2025

My first Jamuary. Not sure if I’ll keep up with one piece per day. But I’ll try and see how it goes.

When I told my partner I was doing this she compiled a list of words for inspiration. Today’s word is “tea”. I started by recording water boiling, thinking I would make musique concrete or something. But ended up using it as a noisy backdrop for a nice melody. Everything else is made with factory sounds (a bit tweaked) of the Digitone and Digitakt.

Can’t seem to embed music from Faircamp, so here’s a link: Tea

Did one yesterday too but didn’t post it here: Jamuary 2025 #1

This is my first time doing the Jamuary challenge. Yesterday I was all pumped and I showed up, but forgot to press .record" on my camera, haha! Today, I jammed aaaaand pressed “record”. Short version: Gallanitte’s Jamuary

Syntakt house loop through Octatrack bit-crushing. I’ve felt slightly unwell all day so this is both wonky and rushed.

Day 2! Played a short guitar loop into Mood MK1 and recorded that onto Move, then added Trillian for bass, plus another Piano in Live.

gosh this is hard…

For day 2 I tried to mix my favorite salsa bass line (Fruko - El Preso) with DNB + Santana lead guitar. I got blisters in my fingers from recording the bass lines…

Phone audio to keep it real and lo-fi…

Nice one. You pulled this off… doesn’t sound hard (like when things are forced to fit). It sits nicely in there.

Late again, had to use my iPad in extremis.
An AUM sketch.

I wanted to try Ableton’s ability to ‘convert drums to midi’ so found a small section of a song in 3/4 that I liked. Cleaned up the output drums a bit, but it was too busy, so I used the built-in Random plugin which created a ton of space since a lot of notes didn’t have a drum assigned and ended up playing silence. I thought it would be interesting to do this with two drum sets to get kind of a call/response thing. It was a fun experiment that doesn’t always sound good, but something I think I might want to mess around with again. I added a couple repeating chords (Cmin - Amin) and a simple bass line to give it an anchor.

“Wonky and Rushed” was my nickname in high school, this slaps

Not really focussed on playing music I like, but rather emote through my gear. Anxiety sprinkled with a healthy dose of depression. Korg Multi/Poly, Roland P-6, SH-4D, and SP-404 MK2.

thanks for taking that time to listen and give feedback  I also love this practice and where it finds me creatively

I’m trying keep my jams very live this year (sans sequencers) and I’m enjoying where that’s taking me so far already.

another floaty piece feat. epiano, matriarch, AK

@eopo and thank you friend:) are you participating this year? I’ve loved your contributions in the past (sorry if I missed one in this thread)

edit: change(d) direction (again)

Didn’t care much for my first Jamuary piece yesterday so I decided to move away from “slow and poignant with casiotone drums” toward something closer to The Locust. Nymphes keys, Hydra on filthy disgusting bass, everything else is DT1. I feel great about this one.

I think I’ve managed to listen to everything so far (with a couple repeat listens too), very inspiring! I’m really enjoying all the different sounds, styles, and approaches.

Every day is kind of hard… but I keep it up. On the second day Syntakt only, so this belongs into this forum :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
