my favorite time of the year!
my goal each jamuary is to end the month with at least 31 completed tracks. its nice to start the year off with a whole grip of tunes for me to listen to over and over again. this year im challenging myself to two extra rules. i used to sample random people’s vlogs for spoken word content all the time and i want to start doing that again with each track. i also want to record each track out to tape, this one has not been tracked to tape yet because i need to go buy the deck for the music station rn
edit: sheesh, i set up the tape recording session and i think it sounds significantly better. ran it through a cheap kenwood equalizer i got at goodwill on the way to the tape deck and i like how the boosts sound. i replaced the file on soundcloud with the new recording
this track was made on the ep133 in a very cold park. i made a drum loop on the drumlogue and sampled some chords from the sh-4d back at home before i went to the park. realized that my mixer is giving off a USB whine since i switched it over to an outlet. so unfortunately these samples are tainted with USB noise but glad i caught it on day 1! came home and recorded it onto the 404 to add sound effects, tags, fx, and the vlog sample.

Jamuary day 1! Gotta say I don’t care for this at all, it sounds like the most boring version of the same shit I always make, with the usual mix concerns even more forward. No stress though! Nowhere to go but up this Jamuary, and I’m not here to make a series of masterpieces, and as a poet once said, they can’t all be zingers. Stoked to make something I like more tomorrow!

Track was made with dt2 and ipad. Drums on dt2 and rest on Ipad. Vocal are from a tv series recorded straight into dt and then played with comb filter and effects
