OP-XY/Z User Thread

Could you go in a bit more at detail? I’m not sure what it is your asking.

I’m not sure, it could be that TE don’t want to single out steps every time you play. It would probably be pretty annoying.

Sure, the question is: is there a reason that you cannot, for example, parameter lock the arpeggiator settings? Is it an architectural reason? Perhaps something like: only instrument parameters are plockable, and players are not tied to instruments.

@MichaalHell Is there a scale mode where everything you play is in key of the scale you select? Outside of the brain scale stuff that is

Not a direct comparison video but I go over a lot of the MIDI capabilities in this video: https://youtu.be/2hzRP2SevVw

Thank you - I will watch later

Here’s hoping so. Cause I’m gonna be hankering for some @Colorsinspace1 XY packs

love the Z. is there a way to double the bar length after you’ve recorded something? like how ableton or many things do where it doubles the pattern. the Z just extends the whole thing; not as useful i feel. maybe an XY feature?

also is the XY speaker decent?

Man, this is incredible. Great work, @MichaalHell !!

Commenting from the lines forum where my question was answered - no CV settings to this effect. @MichaalHell, is it possible to turn this into a request for XY firmware updates? The CV out has enormous potential, especially if it is compatible broadly with modular formats.

as a long-time op-z-head i can’t believe i’m seeing this for the first time! great resource thank you

Hahahah. I hate myself for doing it but I can’t help it.
How about you? I think the op-1 field and this thing will be great together.

That’s the first thing I’m gonna do when I get it. Multisample is next level!

Well if I had to make a choice I would rather have the op-1 field. To be honest I’m not even 100 percent sure I’ll get the xy. I mean I ordered it but I’ll get 2 weeks to try it out. If the sound engines don’t sound good I won’t keep it.

If you’re not feeling, you’re not feeling it, nothing wrong with that. You have some sweet new toys to keep you busy in the mean time.

From the demos I’ve heard so far and without having had a chance to play an OP-XY myself yet, I can already say that I like the wave table engine more than dr. wave on the OP-1f.
Axis seems to be a combination of the FM and digital engines from the OP-1f, so it might be less flexible, but I really like the sounds I’ve heard from it so far.
I’ve had a bit of GAS for the Yamaha Reface CP before the OP-XY was announced so I’m happy that an E-Piano engine is available here as well. I don’t expect it to come close to the CP, but p-lockable E-Piano parameters seem like a fun thing to play around with.
I’m not a fan of hardsync sounds but the engine might be usable for basses for me.
As a 70s prog rock head, I’m also kinda psyched for the organ engine, even if it seems like the least complex one.
Prism and simple seem to have a lot of sweet spots and the multisample engine puts the regular one on the OP-1f to shame. Can’t wait to play around with all those.

Also I’m sure they’ll be releasing new engines over the next few month. The multisampler hopefully will be on the Op-1 Field someday. :star_struck:

OP-Z build quality is IME phenomenal. Yes my dials pop up, I get minimal DTrigs, but it’s traveled in my bag almost every day for 6 years.
