Seems to have been changed between OS versions in that case? I’m on 1.13 and need to rotate the second encoder to toggle between mono/stereo sampling.
Ooh ok. Seems like it
Just finished 3d printing these adjustable stands for my OP-XY/Field. I took an existing laptop stand design on Printables.com, shrank and modified it to suit. I will share on there anyway for anyone wanting to print their own. They are fully print in place with no additional hardware required for the hinges.
They are adjustable between four angles and are super tiny, 84x18x12mm. I’ve stuck some velcro on the top and small feet on the bottom. They just stick right to the velcro disks on the bottom.
Gives a much nicer setup when working with both devices. They also pack away into the net of the Analog Devices OP-1 case too, unlike lots of other stands I’ve seen.
CC 106 does some really wild stuff, and has crashed my device a couple times. It’s also easy to get stuck in a mute mode I don’t know how to get out of.
But I’d love it if someone else could help me map out all the functions. Here’s what I have so far:
- 0-13: change active screen
- 14-21: Toggle mute for tracks 1-8
- 22: Arp on/off
- 23: Open sampler
- 24: Com menu
- 25: Toggle BAR menu
- 26-49: key press
- 50: Toggle recording
- 51: Play
- 52: Stop
- 53: Octave down
- 54: Octave up
- 55: Engage shift
I’m really enjoying my XY, and have been very productive with it, but I’ve noticed a couple of things where the unit really seems to be straining.
With a song playing using a couple of sampler patches, I’ve sometimes had clicks introduced on certain tracks which aren’t there when soloed. Also, if a busier section is playing (say with four or five sampler instruments playing at once) the song can kind of stall/stutter and fall out of time for a split second (kind of like when a DAW is about to fall over when it’s been pushed too hard). Anyone else noticing similar behaviour? I’ll try and record some and post here for examples.
Step components seem to be hit or miss in their functionality depending on how much else is happening in the song as well.
The other thing I’ve noticed is the more I have stored on the device (sounds/samples), the longer the start up time is, and the higher the likelihood of a crash is when starting up. Issues with the RAM maybe?
I’m on the latest firmware.
It’s testament to how much I’m enjoying making music with the unit that I’m happily wearing these issues… I really hope these kinks get ironed out…
I’m experiencing all of those things too (and also still loving it despite the bugs).
I dont understand this plastic thing with its price. Maybe I am old, but I really dont understand
TE needs to work on CPU performance, I hope they can create some more headroom for it.
Sometimes I have the feeling that the CPU is already close to the limit at 6 tracks.
And my 6+ tracks are not very special, not 5 multisampler tracks or something like that.
Someone’s already gathering all of the MIDI CCs into a Google sheet here:
I think you can add a comment to it and they will update the sheet. I’m pretty sure this was posted in one of the XY threads already, but I couldn’t find the comment.
I agree. Sometimes it feels like the machine is at its absolute limits, when really not that much is going on programming wise. I do find it’s more noticeable when there’s multiple instances of the sample based instruments as opposed to the synths.
Yes, the mutisampler seems to be the most CPU- soaking instance, then the synths follow and the normal sampler (with one Sample) needs the least CPU Power.
Yep, you can see the comment I left a couple weeks ago about CC 106 in that sheet. The owner replied to confirm the strange behavior, but I don’t think they did any further tests or anything.
Hopefully someone will figure out all the cool stuff.
I’m still holding out hope for those samples and sounds you posted a few days ago that were spectacular!
Ooh right, sorry been busy, they are coming! i have sampled some more from my modular. Should be around 15 multi sample patches with different flavors
I have some samples that are 4-6 mb on the Multisampler and yeah, it starts to stutter and lag. I don’t use up the whole length, just snippets but it seems like I should chop it to the sections I want and discard the rest. A device with dual CPU and can’t keep up, hopefully it’s just a matter of optimizing the firmware.
how did you set the punch in FX to only the drums? I can only do this for the brain track
Can anyone explain why this is appealing? I dont want to be negatieve, I just dont read arguments and I dont see it. If the price was 1200€ it would be expensive. 1000 maybe acceptable.
It is not the sound
Can’t be the specs
Portability maybe?
Or is it the brand?
Usually i understand the positioning of a product, but with this product, combined with its price……. And a lot of people buying it…… There must be a reason.
We still on this?
This is the thread for complaining from non-users:
Hey!
Do you have any info regarding the default note length (that you can set in the BAR menu)?
It behaves differently from the OP-Z…and only gives you lengths from 0-1 step, which seems to be an odd choice.
