Sound Pack: HexCells

What the heck @NeonBlackCat!!! For real, although I did purposely just put trigs down in my demos (to just do the presets do their thing), this might be no excuse  NeonBlackCat 's track sounds superdope :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah your demos are good, and it serves its purpose of giving an overall idea of the different sounds.

HexCells Tips! :ooh:

  • You want more sounds? Always try another pitch!

  • You want even more sounds? Try to replace the loopable of a preset with another loopable - or even one of the chains! The latter works especially with short sounds. Cool and unpredictable things can happen!

  • You still want more sounds? How about ominous pad sounds! Use the hihat or ride presets (they are all based on loopables) - or from scratch with one of those loopables - pitch them down and use long or infinite decay. Play with the filter.

  • You like the texture of one of the kicks but want to use your own kick? Remove the low-end with the base-width filter, or even remove the attack with a longer attack phase, and then layer another kick on a second track.

Enjoy

I listened to the demo, why are the packs for Digitakt always hard tech / industrial oriented? Why not make a more pop, house, a little ā€œhappyā€ pack for a change?

There are more demos on Elektron’s website, and the sound range is from subtle to hard.

But there’s also context, and it’s in the hands of the user, and to add basslines, melodies if one desires

Check Hex0 (last track - new, not done by me) and Hex3 over here:

An older video, from before the release, when I was working on this preset pack:

Duo Improvisation (a 20 minute journey from 112 to 201 BPM) starting with empty sequencers, Sylvia on Landscape Noon+Beatstep Pro and me on Digitakt II. (Pad sounds are taken from ā€œCrematory Machineryā€)

HexCells presets for the drums and percussion! And due to their organic and textured nature, they fit right in with the analog glitchiness of the Landscape Noon

""

Unfortuantely I made the bad decision to boost the bass of the recording, which is never a good decision.

Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to use this kit in a much more destructive way once I’m done my little Digitone kit challenge, currently the DT2 is taking more of a supportive role, but still found some good use of that great pack

… another one from @Chroma_Surge, combining Digitone II with HexCells on the Digitakt II for additional percussion

These sound fucking shit hot!

Can I buy them just to use as samples as I don’t have any Elektron boxes?

Hi! The pack includes 124 one-shots as WAV exactely for that.
And on top of that, the source materials of the Presets - all the chains and loopables as WAV - as well

Just bought this. Love it.

Some of the snares make me feel like I am in right there in that industrial building with Einstürzende Neubauten in the ½ Mensch film.

But now I feel the need to get a Digitakt II just to have these as tweakable presets…

Edit: I’m not trying to say the snares sound like anything Neubaten have done, specifically. It just gave me that feeling for whatever reason.

Anyone using this pack with Octatrack and know of a good way to convert these files to 44.1k ?

EDIT: You know what nvm I think I’m actually really enjoying the slightly tuned down sound lol

… and be more Doom than the others  You can pitch them up in Octatrack - I suggest playing around with the pitch anyway to get even more sounds out of the Pack - or if you really want to convert them, I always suggest Reaper (no bloatware, has neat batchprocessing)
