Model:Samples fault

Managed accidentally to plug a 5v 3A power lead into my Samples it now doesn’t turn on, what has occurred to the internal circuit by doing this and how is this repaired? It seems to have broken my Samples, not switching on anymore with correct 5v 1A supply.

Is this an easy fix or complex? I’m based in UK, anywhere to get it repaired? Or possible to self repair?

I would contact Elektron support in the first instance I think.

BTW a power supply that can provide a greater amperage than specified (3A vs 1A) should not be a problem, the M:S should take however many amps it needs. What I think is more likely in your case is that the plug was the wrong standard (centre-positive is what’s needed, my guess is you used a centre-negative cable)

It could have happened with the side power input I did try to put Boss 9v PSU without polarity converter, so that could be why? The 5v 3A was from my Overbridge power supply from MyVolts.

So it might have been when tried with the Boss PSU that did this?

Yes, that would be enough to do it. Boss 9V pedals and power supplies are centre-negative.

Oh nooo, had I of known this….

I looked at a video of the Model:Cycles being stripped down on YouTube and hoping it’s a fuse or something fairly easy in this case, it’s a lot more tech looking and everything circuitry on the board. So probably not easy to repair.

so, are both power input ports fried?

I would have though that if you burn one the other was still available…

Seems to have damaged so nothing works at all.
