KB Chord missing on Digitone II

not sure what is pattern scale quantisation so my answer might not be what you want to know but if you set a scale (and fold), the keyboard will only display the notes available in the scale like in keyboard mode. The knob to scroll through notes “manually” can either stay chromatic or respect the scale (it’s a setting in personalize)

Honestly, I only half-miss it. I find it convenient, but I find it easy to get corralled into the same in-key notes. I’m hoping the new chord builder will help me stay off the rails.

I stand corrected.

ETA? I was very reliant on this feature in the OG

so I am waiting for it before jumping on the II

never used it but now that we have 16 voice polyphony: more than just triads, chord inversions and chord spreading options would open up a lot the variations. But I might want the settings to be available from edit note… entering different chords in edit mode with the settings at your fingertips would be so fast…

agreed. I don’t want the same chord mode from mk1 for exactly the reasons you give. Let the mk2 do jazz!

Thx for the reply!! Very good to know, I would love it for generative ideas. For now I’ll make some chord templates… just ordered mine. I was an early Digitakt II adopter, this is exciting! =D

this is correct but the key difference for me – a moron who doesn’t know chords or music theory – it was awesome to be able to quickly punch them in without having to look anything up

I don’t know much theory either but I like to put my 3 fingers on the trigs or keyboard and try out. Don’t get me wrong, a chord mode (but with a bit more going on in note edit mode) would be appreciable for sure!

If they improve it, I’d love some built in note velocity randomization and some kind of strum control.

It could back better than ever.

Not automatic, but you can achieve this with the new Note Edit i.e. altering velocity and creating strum yourself.

Oh nice. I didn’t realize you had velocity in the note edit menu.

Which is very cool as you can link velocity to many many things.

Is there something of a micro timing per note in the chord note editor? That would be good enough to achieve strum.

Would be funny to de-couple velocity from volume and use it on some delay stage of an envelope or something and achieve strum that way.

You could point an lfo at that same delay and also have a touch of baked in variance.

Indeed, there is per note micro timing.

Future is here.

And better than could have been imagined. Did anyone even ask for bass notes? Yes please!

Brilliant implementation of chord mode in the new update!

Ratted! Just bought a Launchkey mk4 just for the chords, now I don’t need it.
