@ViolentMeals and I have settled on the following challenge:
In the spirit of Halloween, this challenge involves creating music for a fictional scene from a horror movie. Conjure a horrifying scene in your mind, then put music to it. You can provide a description of the scene if you wish to give the listener some imagery to accompany your creepy sounds. The more unsettling, suspenseful, and frightening, the better.
There are no technincal or compositional restrictions other than keeping the duration somewhere between 1 - 3 minutes (give or take).
Thereās no deadline as of yet. Weāll get to that after some entries start coming in.
oh man, just recently I did a submission for 666 themed Disquiet Junto, I donāt want to recycle but⦠may I?
Iāll try to do something new if I have timeā¦
driving around on a rainy night, hard to see with all the bright headlights reflecting off the wet streets. turn off into your neighborhood, your house is at the end of the block. halfway down you see one headlight turn the corner near your house. one lane road, you decide to wait so this car can pass. the headlight starts to advance towards you, however you notice the light is not getting any larger as it approaches. the light goes out about ten feet ahead of your car, as does all other ambient light around you.

its a rainy stormy day today so i drove out to my favorite park near the water and intended on making this with rain dumping on my car. i got to the park and the clouds were breaking open and it ended up being really nice there. still whipped out the mc-101 and made an 8 bar loop with four different synths. then i sampled these into the p6, some individual tracks, some layers. pitched em down and played around with the different loops. came home and played the loops live into the sp404 to add some extra ambient effects. put a field recording of me driving in my car on a wet night behind it for extra Space and Placement
This tune is inspired by Cormac McCarthyās book, The Road. I actually have a monologue that Iām putting over this for a Halloween gig this week, but hereās the original instrumental versionā¦
great track you have there too! funny you called it filthy ambient, someone left me a comment on my video too saying āambientās not deadā which is hilarious, never meant to be ambient haha, guess everyone has different interpertations
You are heading a group send to investigate the disappearance of a mining crew on a remote planet. Your employer, an interplanetary mining conglomerate, has given only scant information about the operation in question. The living quarters on the planet are intact and empty. Next you investigate the mine. You and your crew go deep underground on a long lift ride and have now stepped out of the lowest level mantrip railway car at the end of the line and are descending further on foot in a tunnel much cruder than the ones above. As you walk on your measurement devices give strange readings and the rock material of the tunnel walls changes gradually to a dark stone full of strangely shaped black crystals that are unafamiliar to you despite your degree in exogeology. Liquid is dropping on your helmets from the ceiling veiled in darkness. The tunnel widens and suddenly you have the thought that somehow the crystals seem to be organized in organic looking patternsā¦
Iāve been away from my setup for the last four daysā¦
Iām super excited to get to listening to all of these entries, and I love the written descriptions so far!
