Apologies
Apologies for my tone earlier
But yeah, I think the issue with 15 outs had something to do with routing architecture of Overbridge.
I love it when people can make amends to total strangers
Gives me hope in the future of humanity. Yāall are top-notch!
Itās all good. Thatās why we have this forum to discuss and check each other.
Sometimes I will be wrong as well
Are there actually plugins that publish 16 separate outs in Ableton? I assumed assumed it was the main outs + 15 individuals = 16 total per the Ableton docs.
EDIT: not to reignite the above peacefully resolved conversation, but I think the confusion above is that the naming conventions are different between plugins (Ie OB shows 1-15, Maschine list stereo pairs 3/4 - 31/32), but if you actually count the outputs they are the same total (1 main + 15 additional). Updating mostly to satisfy my own curiosity
Thanks for being constructive ! I think itās worth finding out whether this is a limitation of Ableton or OB. I assumed it was Ableton, so there is not much Elektron could do about it. If other plugins manage to do better, that would give me hope that Elektron could fix it themselves!
the new chord mode is biggest game changer imo
itās less cumbersome and more intuitive than note input when it comes to harmonic stuff
the gui for the root/center/spread facilitates better results than even stacks in ableton
canāt wait to see what @mpiecora does with it in the next live stream
Digitone II just exceeded level 9000.
ezbotās about to go super saiyan on the new features.
Itās like a, pardon my French, fucking cheat code. Suddenly my shit sounds 210% better.
Well, when you obviously dont have a clue how overbridge works, what makes you think, its the same internal logic then? Because 2 numbers match?
The main work on Overbridge is not, that they transfer audio, but that they controll the complete device, and that is 100% different for a DN2 to a DT2.
Why would it be? I am pretty sure they have made interfaces for remote controlling the device that overlap on the DT2 and DN2, and will continue to use that for devices using the new platform in the future too. Remote controlling the A ratio on DN2 should be pretty much the same logic as remote controlling the sample start on the DT2. The actual processing happens on the machine.
I think most of the work is actually in the VST itself. How itās showed and data is fed back etc.
I am not saying itās not a lot of work, but I think thereās a huge overlap (done on purpose of course) between the DT2 and DN2, which is why I think itās a bit weird that it took so long.
I still wonder on what knowledge you base your assumptions on. Have you seen the code? Do you know the overbridge source or the api that good?
Wasnāt DN2 the first to be fully ported over to a new development paradigm - the DN2 engine is a complete re-write from the DN1 - therefore any balancing act that was performed to get the DN1 and DT1 to play nicely with overbridge could only be of use to one Mkii device going forward
The DN2 would iirc be the first device on the new platform to be engineered to work with OB ⦠letās not forget how long it took to get overbridge working first time around
tldr - itāll be here when it is, no amount of analysis is going to change this - thereās probably a reason itās taking time
I have just played a bit with it, spread mode + bass is ace.
And first row being able to switch chord modes is smart. I love this!
Iām so glad Elektron is starting to lean more heavily into improving polyphony-oriented workflows & coming up with innovative stuff.
I mean the note edit thing itself is an underrated game changer, itās essentially a mini sequencer inside a sequencer that allows you to cram so much note data inside a single 128step pattern. And now the chord mode on top ā both very convenient and quite unexpected breakthroughs.
Should I be getting sound from the audio streams provided by OB mode in the new update or was that just preparation for the VST later on?
Asking because I just updated mine, setup Bitwig to have 16 audio channels with inputs from each USB audio channel but donāt get any sound into the DAW, the meters stay silent even though I can hear sounds from the DN2
Not upgraded yet, but canāt wait to do so
Track selection āSILENTā in the Personalize menu - yeesss, thank you Elektron, I can now back to my old habbits and stop hearing accidential sound when I forget to press TRK simultaneously.
CHORD mode - looks promising , especially with SCALE mode
make sure you have selected overbridge in system settings. also, remove audio tracks from audio routings and set int to main off.
also, remove audio tracks from audio routings and set int to main off.
Probably thatās what I missed, didnāt remove the tracks from audio routing even though I tried setting int to main = off.
Will give it a try when I finish work, thanks!
