yeah that’s awesome, I noticed – but setting as new sound is just too difficult because of the sensitive rotary encoders (if you just wiggle a tiiiiiiiiiny tiny bit it doesn’t work as expected – probably depends on the sensitivity of that encoder … they tend to be quite different also over their lifetime)
Oh no, you’re missing a big piece: There’s a trigger mode (fn down) that assigns the preset pool to the trig buttons. The trigs turn yellow, and arrows page through 8 pages of 16 trigs.
You can also add whole kits to the pool from Kits > Manage, select kits, then left arrow >Add to Preset Pool.
WHAT THE… this is easily the best feature of the DN II and I knew nothing about it! so cool!
okay this feature solves all of my problems. I actually prefer it to use more than one sound on one track since it’s so tedious to always jump between tracks. So trying out sound combinations and being able to record those in one track is really also a composing tool and of course at the same time a live performance punch in power horse! so basically a two trick pony that actually a super cute lovely donkey with a unicorn on his forehead!
Hmm, I’ve tried to add a whole kit to the pool, and each time it just adds 16 empty presets. Is there something I’m missing?
Okay - it seems to work with: Kit → Load then left-arrow then Add to Preset Pool.
Add to Preset Pool from the Kit Manage menu has the effect listed above for me, so I guess that’s a bug.
Anyone order there’s from Thomann in the US? Their price is under $900 and I’m wondering if there’s a catch. Everywhere else is $999
No. There should be an option to record active track only.
Yeah, that would be a handy Feature.
oh wow… big flaw haha good to know. I bet this can really freak you out when you don’t know that and your patterns get weird
It’s one of the world’s biggest retailers in music. So if you’re actually on their real site, everything should be fine . Though I don’t understand why they would price it at 900€
knowing they can sell plenty for full price. Is it a B-Stock maybe?
It’s 990€ within the EU, but when selling to the US, they don’t have to add VAT (20% at least). I took advantage of this a couple of times while living in the US. Tariffs coming, grab the deals while you can…
is it weird that there’s no official dn2 sound pack yet?
i’m a little underwhelmed by the factory presets (which is surprising considering how awesome and thoughtfully curated the factory samples on the digitakt 2 are)
anyway just super excited to hear what some talented sound designers are doing with the new machines
Importing anything into the US which is declared at a value over $800 exceeds the de minimis level and will likely be delayed in customs while they assess import fees. You may also at that time be charged tax on the purchase amount, however they’ll probably instead expect you to pay that tax on the purchase independently as a “use tax” which is a type of sales tax on unregulated purchases like private sales (lol) and not normally enforced as strictly in domestic purchases below a certain level, however since you’ll be leaving a paper trail which says you made an untaxed purchase via import which will be confirmed by us customs, you’re more likely to have to eventually pay the full tax on the amount.
I don’t know though, it’s possible it will be part of the customs import fees / tariffs, I’ve never bought something that was declared over $800 from outside of the US but I wouldn’t count on things being less expensive by doing it that way because there is also the cost of international shipping and complications plus additional cost should you decide that you need to return it.
I also assume it will include an EU spec power supply so unless you still have an appropriate elektron psu then add that to the cost of the transaction.
DN1 owner here (for now….). Does the DN2 multitrack over USB or does it come through as one stereo track?
Overbridge (multi-track) is still in beta testing for DN2 so currently it comes through as one stereo track over USB. When they roll out overbridge (nobody knows exactly when that will be) then it will have multitrack audio over USB, but not until then and nobody wants to use something that’s buggy or doesn’t work correctly which is why they do beta testing, to work out any problems before it gets into the hands of the public.
This is the official DN2 OB beta sign up thread:
I don’t know if they’re still accepting beta testers though.
I applied over a month ago but never got a confirmation email so I’m guessing they’re not accepting new testers.
Maybe that means they’re close! (or not)
Well if it can be done with the AR it ought to be possible with the DN. fingers crossed.
Well I just thought that I could do that with my digitakt 1 (I always use both connected, DT1 sending midi to DN2 and DN2 sending audio to DT1), how can I set the midi from DT1 for it to be convenient for any DN2 track?
Edit : just figured it out in 5 seconds, midi channel - > source is the track num on the digitone, then use the chromatic keyboard as you said
I now have a new problem, I have 3 lfo on track 4 set to trigger mode, first trigless trig set to lfo trig on and condition to 1st pattern, other trigs on the track 4 set to lfo trig off, pattern set to reset INF, all tracks set to Poly M lfo, it works but the moment I activate a certain track the lfos of track 4 will restart or evolve randomly.
Any idea? I don’t know what I’ve messed up.
Well I find out but I still don’t understand the mechanism, I had to lock track 4 to the number of voice it uses simultaneously, even if the voice page didn’t showed any voice limit reached. Any idea why? I think I’m still in 1.00 version, may it be it?
