Zoom LiveTrak L6

To me this just seems that those are the recorded sample if you live sample, but not 2 additional tracks for the sample playback during a performance, in the recordings folder are just master and the 6(10) tracks.
No Biggie, in the worst case if those are really used for more elaborate stuff triggering them over midi and recording that would make it possible to recreate it if it’s needed for mixing.

Only worrie I have is, since the controlled are digital, what the resolution is and how it handles changes via midi.

Does it interpolate(smith transition) or jump (clear stepping). And if it’s the former, if we Kan change how it interpolates it (linear, log, speed for transitions, threshold for jumping instead of interpolating).

Dimensions are 223 mm (W) × 114 mm (D) × 46.5 mm (H) and weight without batteries is 526 g. Looks good.

Yeah, slightly above volcas and the Roland compacts (if it would have reached that size it would have been magic, but that would have needed smaller connectors (would have been my preference tbh)

I was thinking about the mobile aspect, but also it’s great for spontaneous jams, and when you get to it and boot up your pc you just open the stems and see if one was good and mix/master them.

Now the question is if I should sell my interface and Behringer Mixer to finance this since it does the work of both.

My guess is that the multitracking is pre fader (like every damn mixer except for TX-6) which would make it useless for any of my personal use cases.

Otherwise intriguing!

Yeah, just the master mix.

But I don’t see a technical limitation, the digitalization happens directly at the start (going by the block diagram), and 5/6 even add usb audio instead of the normalized part of wanted.

To me that means a software update Could add playback. I could see playback AND recording having a write speed bottle neck. Would still be great to get the feature

Page 99, yeah, the balanced mic inputs (1/2) are post gain, everything else (FX, EQ, pan, level) is after multitracking sadly.
Having the option would be great.
But if it’s one, then I’m fine. I have the master mix if I’m fine with it, or if I’m not, all possibilities to re work it in a draw if I want to do more with it or am happy with the stems but not with my mix.

This is the portable mixer I’ve been dreaming of. I don’t think I’ll get rid of my 1202 because it’s so reliable, but I’d much rather take this thing to gigs and meetups or even table setups than the Mackie.

Just compared it to my komplete audio 2 interface… Slightly broader, but overall pretty damn close but can everything my KA2 can and about 100x more.

Yeah, it costs 3x as much. But if it’s having comparable sound quality (hoping for a great headphones out just for hifi listening) then there is not even a question if I’m gonna get it.

Are there preamps on the mic inputs?

LiveTrak L6 can be integrated into a Eurorack with a rackmount adapter (ERL-6) sold separately

So it can be fitted in to your Eurorack case? Can it mix/record Eurorack signal levels which are normally pretty hot (maybe the 32biut stuff can? seems daft to have a Eurorack mount if it cant!)?

Assuming it can I will get it, desktop, iPAD mixer/recorder and a Eurorack Mixer/recorder…no brainer for under $300 (Its also an audio interface, can launch samples you can load from your computer and record scenes for instant mix switching…of an it is a midi interface! Too good to be true!)

The others are all line level as far as I see.

Now the front mounted usb connection makes sense, true.

In regards to eurorack levels… It’s balanced and line in levels, so I expect that you need an attenuator.
But maybe it can do eurorack levels. I wouldn’t count on it without further reviews.

Yup- Midi and USB Audio all on the front, power USB on the side so would be in Eurorack case and could have a USB C to Eurorack Power adaptor included with the kit?

Personally I would just use this on the desk next to my modular, as it would also be perfect with iPad and desktop…perfect portable mixer and even portable recorder (with a Mike) using the battery power- 3 hours is plenty.

Those 4 soundpad buttons can record the inputs and then playback looped…could be a basic looper!

It does say…

Input Gain	No adjustment required (dual AD converter circuit)

I cant imagen it cant cope with Eurorack levels if they have made a Eurorack Mounting kit for it…but may just be wishful thinking…The B+H news page also says ‘Finally, the L6 is Eurorack compatible, making it a great fit for use as a submixer in a modular setup.’

I wonder what usb latency might look like as an audio interface.

yeah the 3 hour battery life is definitely mitigated by the fact that it has a dedicated USB port for power.

Could be, I think that the reason is mostly them pushing 32bit float (I think the most common implementation is just having 2 parallel AD conversions with gain seit to 2 different amounts and merging those 2 to a way broader dynamic range. )Not sure if that enables it to go up multiple times hotter then line level. But since they are promoting this for modular, I do hope for them that they can.

the feature i like most? the LED rings around the encoders :smile_cat:
it looks pretty nice and has some good features, especially being able to control parameters via MIDI.
i would probably get one if ever needed to: portable, battery powered and being able to record straight into SD card are all a plus for me. i might not like much having to switch each time between say tracks’ level, pan, fx to adjust them but wouldn’t be some kind of deal breaker, it’s not like having to dive into 20 sub-menus to adjust a parameter…

Would have been nice to have one of the effects be a delay+reverb together

But now I’m just nitpicking

2 worries I have:
Weight of the cables pulling the device up-> need to fix it somehow to the desk.

And: reaching the EQ buttons when everything is plugged in.
