Analog Heat +FX overheating!?!

Hi everyone!
My first post here:)
I got a brand new analogue heat +fx and i noticed that the unit becomes very hot after about 30min of use.
(On the other hand i also have a DT and DN that stay much much much cooler.)
Is this a normal thing that you guys also experience?
Is there any info on how hot should it normally get?

I would like to know if i should be returning the unit…or…

Thx a lot in advance!

That absolutely normal. Analog gear will heat, digital ones won’t or barely. Digitakt and digitone are digital devices.

Thanks so much! That was quick!
So do you just let it run hot like that or u practice turning it off to cool down frequently?

Syntakt also gets very hot (when compared to DT and DN), I think it’s probably normal. If you’re having glitching, freezing up, audio artifacts, anything out of the ordinary then that’s the time to be concerned.

Don’t sit it on your lap though

FWIW Elektron (regarding syntakt) said that it’s designed to allow for these running temps so I don’t think any cooldown cycle is imperative, it should reach whatever the max temp is and stay there. I think that’s just “operating temp” but someone else with the AH+FX will probably let you know their experience.

My Analog Heat mk2 gets pretty hot.

Others have noticed too:

I think the Syntakt also gets pretty warm, from the analog FX block

I’ve used Analog Heat +FX for playing live as well as practise in Egypt. Also in the outside of Egypt. Never had any problems

A lot of jokes in the referenced thread, but as a source of information it probably contains some useful info including operating temperature readings for Syntakt. As I said, that one is also known to generate quite a bit of heat.

Hopefully that helps with your own tests.

It’s right there in the name

My mk1 got very hot, never had a problem.

I don’t have an analog heat, but I went on a big french studio once (studio ferber in paris) they have a big analog mixing desk. They never turn it off, because it would cool then heat each time it turns on, and damage the component over the year. It stays hot all the time without issues.
