MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 3)

Someone else posted the same info in the MPC Part 2 thread.

Can someone get a screenshot of the chat? It’s August 30th in Seattle, WA though

I would also like to know where it is the 31st in the world right now. Here in Chicago is the 30th. I need to know what the future is like!

A lot of the MPC popularity come the fact that it’s over 35 years old. Nice job Akai & everyone here for getting to 3.0!

I just emailed MPCstuff to see if they can still get me a set of the OG live 2 (black) transport button pads with the shine through lettering. They have the part listed on their website, but it shows no longer available (even though they still have all the other button pads in stock.

Does anyone know if there’s anywhere else that might carry them? A short google dive didn’t yield any other results but maybe someone knows?

I decided that I’m willing to deal with black buttons on my retro if it means that I can make beats in the dark with less fumbling.

That also says a lot about the popularity of the MPC line.

20:05h, August 30 here in Spain too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Dawning of a brave new era.

In thread 2.0 maybe 40% of posts were complaining about ways that the current generation devices behave like an MPC not a DAW, now it’s gonna be 40% of posts complaining about ways that the new firmware behaves like a DAW not an MPC.

But those 60%, they’re always happy.

Seems people were right. Akai may have been trying to get this out by the end of August.

Thank you for posting that. Nice to have confirmation it is not imminent!

Sh*t happens, but I wish they would at least tell us why or what is causing the delay.

Cynical side of me wants to say, “track mutes”

That’s what happened. “Track mutes”

honestly the beta isn’t ready for general public release yet. It’s great for the most part but the existing issues in the closed beta would just result in a shitshow if thousands of people installed it and started complaining about it. I saw a bunch of people whining in the ig comments about Akai dropping the ball and users not even touching their MPCs since the 3.0 announcement… what a headache those people are.

Akai is making the right decision here.

It’s Akai. I’m glad they are trying to squish as many bugs as possible before releasing it to the public. This will be a nice change.

I am glad they are fixing things a little more, better in the long run. But, they shouldn’t have released it to influencers to rub it in our face for a month. That’s the only part I have an issue with. Throw it on the official Akai YouTube or instagram showing features and if you want to get influencers etc to give feedback in a closed/private beta, all for it. But, having these YouTubers make video after video for the last month while we all just wait is a tad cruel. I think that’s the main reason people got impatient, because they kept seeing other people use it openly and humans like shiny new things dangling in front of them.
