Intellijel Atlantix

The Atlantis is a ton of fun w/out a wavefolder and as you note, the excellent Bifold is available if that’s your thing.

Why would Intellijel want to cannibalize their own sales by duplicating the wavefolding capabilities from a module they already make? I imagine they were also aiming to keep the price point of the Atlantix the same as the Atlantis, and adding a wavefolder would add significant additional cost.

It seems logical to me that if you want the self-contained bells and whistles all-in-one then they’d love you to own their Cascadia too.

I was merely saying that, for me, the wavefolder is the most important omission from Atlantis in comparison to Cascadia. I’m sure they thought carefully about what to include and what not to include.

first time…advantage Canada. [I mean their location is just down the street] but for those in BC, Canada or want to have it shipped…

Nightlife has them

If they’re just down the street, maybe you could go in and play with one, at least.

[Edit: when I was living in NYC, I ordered from Nightlife Electronics. Good service, no border hassles. Worth keeping in mind for those in the US.]

I think they mean that Intellijel’s offices are very close to Nightlife Electronics. Hence the ‘advantage’. Although, I think @palm actually lives in Vancouver IIRC.

I knew that @palm lived in Vancouver but you are probably right about the meaning. Still, if anyone has a floor model at this point, it’s Nightlife.

The “spike wave” feature is also exclusive to Atlantix, isn’t it?

Yes. I have an Atlantis, and there is no spike wave.

Although likewise if you have a cascadia and find yourself mostly using for more basic patches it might be reasonable to trade down, or if you decided you wanted to make something more custom with a similar voice… I’m half tempted. I already have a lot of stuff that would flesh out an Atlantix case, flurry and planar2 would be strong additions, I suppose if you went all out added in sealegs and metropolix you would have a killer little complete system with fx and sequencing.

The Make Noise XPO also features a ‘spike’ wave though I’m not sure if it’s the same:

I assume it is the waveform from their Dixie

It almost certainly is the same triangle core oscillator as the Dixie II+ (and Rubicon 2 I believe).

The ‘spike’ waveform seems to be pretty uncommon amongst oscillators though. The XPO is a newer example of an oscillator that has that waveform.

The fact they added TZFM to Atlantix suggests they utilizing the new-ish SSI2130 chip like Cascadia.

DPO too but I think they just meant vs Atlantis

verbos foundation osc has it as well. its from the buchla music easel

Do you think the module itself would be enough to be used as a semi-modular monosynth ?

yes

Yes almost.
To make it really semi modular standalone you would need a case with power, an output module and maybe midi.

Hello guys, just got an Atlantix / Sealegs combo into a Palette 62, as I`m new to this system I would like to know if there is any source where I could check some patches for the Atlantix just for education and better understanding of the system? thanks

I don’t know of a source, but The Atlantis, and I believe also the Atlantix, were inspired by the SH-101, although not a clone. Maybe try replicating some SH-101 patches.
