I personally sampling length + Threshold recording trigger!
It might not be a new feature? Maybe it was already there, or provided for with some update for the DT1, which i regrettably sold off too soon (in a manic pussywhipped or gearlust state - didn’t have my priorities in order) or missed it gotten overlooked???)
Anyhow i am currently cramming my DT2 to the brim! Started the task of salvaging years of silly DAW projects and tunes, to finally finish them up. Having them all in my pocket wherever i choose to go and work on, or maybe perform even!
Lots of rebuilding/reverse engineering/workarounds to tackle due to obsolete 32 bit plugin terror ahead, but for now just sampling parts of bounced raw tracks for a quick recall overview and pulling all the used samples from projects in, resampling synths into oneshots etc. (a bit tedious, but worth the effort!)
I use these ‘128 step chunks’ as a reference track on BANK1/PTN1: setting the TRK playbackspeed to 1/8 means i can have 8 chunks playing in sequence/chained, with each single chunck (TRK) on the start of each new page (PAGE 1-8)
Plenty of other ideas to utilize the DT2 in a non standard way but let’s finish this task first before getting lost again.
Nooooo…I don’t want to ‘Mod’ my DT2 The idea of an internal battery definitely sounds nice but yeah, no… i want to keep it pristine… It would have been a nice thing if Elektron had incorporated it
i’ll buy a good battery pack soon. LyingDalai had a great recommendation for that. And you can go for about 10 Hrs on on a fully charged pack! (seems sufficient enough) Already have the myVolts cable.
But yes, take it anywhere with me. (my whole life’s work and birthright, little bit of meaning to my insignificant existence )
I know this isn’t a new feature but I never messed with song mode for whatever reason on OG Digitakt – for some reason I was under the impression that it was weak sauce and so I just never learned how to use it and would jam solely with the mutes and pattern changes.
Now that I’ve learned how to use it effectively on DT2, I don’t know how I lived without it. Bit of a game changer to be honest. It’s gotten me way closer to completing a full track inside the box without having to record anything into Ableton.
My other favorite thing right now is to use the comb filter combined with MOD1>FREQ & MOD2>ENV. I apply this to re-sampled drum loops and I’m achieving some really crazy resonant bass drops that I never would have come up with on my own because I am forever a pleb.
Honestly the stereo sampling completely changed everything for me. Having the ability to resample the entire summed audio and have it bounced to a single track and it sounds exactly the same. It changes the device in such a fundamental way, I still don’t think I’ve really gotten past the tip of the iceberg with re-sampling in stereo.
Hi. I know you posted this awhile ago, but I was wondering if you send out a track to be processed can you also route the same signal back into Digitakt via USB? Or can it only be via L/R inputs?
I’m not sure, I guess it depends on how you are able to configure the routing on the device you are sending it to? I’m doing it with an op-1f. The safest way to prevent any feedback I’ve found is to going USB out and back through the LR inputs. Keeps everything nice and easy.
