Introducing Digitakt II

Those photos make me want to reach in and peel that protector off… :joy:

Sorry! Only a few days in, it’ll get peeled off soon enough.

MIDI CC naming & learn is such a great feature…makes using my ZOIA so much fun too!

I’m trying to name midi cc’s now i must be doing something wrong duh!

you have to be on the page on which you can change the VALUES (not CC number)
then hold shift & long-press the encoder that you want to name.

Thanks a lot  :ok_hand:

Does the DT II pass velocity data from keyboards? I run a Keystep directly into my Digitakt, to play and sequence synths, and the fact that it won’t pass along messages from my sustain pedal is a drag. Feels a little crazy that hasn’t been addressed.

It should, velocity is part of midi Note messages. If you can send CC70-77 to DT with your controller you can map them to desire CCs, such 64 for sustain, 1 for Modwheel…

Gotcha. Yeah I can map CC messages just fine, what I mean is if I plug my sustain pedal into my Keystep, and then run my Keystep’s MIDI out in to the Digitakt’s MIDI in it allows me to play play and sequence soft synths (via Overbridge). However if I push down on my sustain pedal nothing happens. Would that be the case with DT II?

I mean DT and Digis can’t pass thru CCs unless you send them CC 70-77, and eventually change them to desire CC in the CC setup page.

So with KS if you can change the CC sent by sustain pedal to a CC between 70 and 77 you should be able to pass it thru.

Just a limited workaround, can work with some controllers allowing to change CC sent by sustain pedal.

Apparently no improvements in that concern with DT2.

Could try assign sustain pedal to control CC80 for amp hold?

I haven’t tried this with DT but I got sustain pedal working with OT with a similar approach

I think @SouvlakiPlaystation goal is to pass sustain pedal CC through midi out, in order to control external gear…
Afaik Digis can’t pass CCs thru midi out unless you send them CCs between 70-77 in order to control midi tracks CC 1-8 parameters. Limited.

Edit : not sure about Overbridge or USB midi behavior…

oops sorry I misread and replied before coffee :stuck_out_tongue: What I suggested 100% won’t work for that function

Actually just discovered my Digitone does this without issue. Ran the Keystep MIDI out into the Digitone MIDI in. Digitone’s Overbridge output now lets me sequence and play Kontakt instruments and the sustain pedal works fine. This functionality is apparently not baked in to the Digitakt.

I understand that the Digitakt isn’t supposed to be a synth, but one of its bigger selling points are all those MIDI channels you can use to play and sequence external instruments. Seems pretty logical that a lot of people would want to use sustain pedals or pitch bend/mod wheel from their controllers. Bizarre omission.

Digitakt II is absolutely fantastic, Iv’e never put it down in a few days but now I am trying to find something out.
I’m transferring old samples I made a few years back on the OG Digitakt which is perfect using Transfrer however the problem is the “Naming of Samples/Presets” I can’t find a way to name my current saved content with any lower case letters??? My OG Digitakt samples etc have all loaded up perfect with lower case included when I originally name them but I can’t find in the manual how to do this in my new Digitakt II… Anyone tell me the way to select lower case? I must be missing something here.

Thanks

16 Tracks, Stereo, Master Overdrive, 3 LFOs makes all the difference for me
(Because of Stereo, I don’t even use the Digitakt’s effects here - almost)

Landscape Noon, Beatstep Pro and Digitakt II, starting with blank sequencers.

I don’t think you could have lower letters in DT1. I don’t remember this.
To my knowledge and unreliable memory, only OT has this.

My bad, i remember i had named all my samples before loading into DT 1 back then so they showed the lower and upper case :see_no_evil:

The first question they answer is regarding mono sampling - it’s apparently coming in the next update…
