What if AI pushes us to like and produce bad music. Genres like Bad Techno or Bad House would emerge.
I’m not saying you produce bad music, it’s just a thought.

indeed… this was predicated a very long time ago…
funny enough, decades ago, there was ‘hope’ in this, that we’d all be able to work less, and have more leisure time - hasn’t happened yet.
lets remember, many industries have been going thru this for a very long time…
e.g. manufacturing has a huge amount of automation now, replacing jobs.
sure, progress is not always positive, but you can’t (and should not) stop it…
humans adapt and survive…
even in music, we have heard all this gloom before…
with punk and hiphop (sampling/chopping), Dj-ing some people claimed it required less talent, was not art… nothing new to see here!
AI music will become widespread, and take over certain roles.
but that doesn’t mean music making is dead… people will still want to create, AI will open up the process to more people.
ofc, we dont know the final outcome - thats for some, the future is always scary…
its likely some will use AI to create a (new) form of art, perhaps there’ll be a revival in live performance… lets see, we will adapt.
I watched a bit of the Ultra festival last night… the audience there were pumped due to the performance… it didn’t matter how the music was created.
music creation will live on, musicians and music will adapt and change as it always has !
…at least we got live events and campfire gatherings always left to us…
Good, because it sounded like my 100% human made, non-vegan, gluten rich and talent-free is bad music.
It’s just human music. Not perfect, just beautiful.

This one sounds like something I would like to create:
Could we please stay more or less on topic with Suno? Thanks.
I think there are other threads, where you can discuss the possible consequences of AI / KI…
or
I mean if nothing else then at least these AI apps can be very entertaining… A song about UFOs stealing a farmers cow. I kinda like it.
Everytime I go on an AI rant my boss likes to make a Suno song out of it to ‘annoy’ me. All in good fun though, but boy does it generate middle of the road forgettable crap.
I’ve been playing around with Suno.ai, and it’s jaw-dropping! It’s still not on the artistic level of a talented human, though.
Music creation is heading into even wilder territory than when everyone became a photographer.
When the robot super lovers become available I guess we’ll all just give up on having sex…
Is this SUNO creating only music + lyrics? No instrumental only?
Don’t confuse commerce for capitalism.
If anything, I prefer this kind of approaches to AI-gen music:
He even has some videos when he get AI to generate midi sequences, which improve the sound and allow for a more creative process than just prompting, like this one:
“The fact that music listeners so vastly outnumber music-makers at the moment is “so lopsided,” he argues, seeing Suno as poised to fix that perceived imbalance.”
Flawless Logic
Keep an eye on this AI in media movement.
It is easy to predict where this is headed and that all of these platforms will be pushing to result in subscription based services where you as the end user get to “license” your favorite artists or actors in scenarios or locations for additional microtransation fees on top of monthly subscriptions.
Imagine , I want to see Bob Marley playing stairway to heaven accompanied by The Ramones in Times Square.
All done in less than 30 seconds.
Artist license x2 ($20) x Song license ($5) x location customization ($5) x monthly fee ($25)
We’re only maybe three years away from the first algorithm star, someone who can prod a great tune out of the AI.
Fairly certain Japan already has such a star. They also have a hologram as a pop-star. Which might already be largely AI driven music. Total assumption but otherwise indeed around the corner.
Just did this. Can see this sort of thing infesting TikTok like a virus.
Haha bizarre. Main stream music artists are in big big trouble.
Main stream will become even more about personas than it already is.
