Best groovebox ever made?

For me it’s between the MDuwmk2+ and the Akai Force.
Interface/immediacy vs power with jammability in mind.

Have also owned to compare against:
Yamaha RS7000, RM1x, Korg ES1/ER1/EA1, ESX, Roland MC307/505, Monomachine, OT, Digitakt.

I’d likely also put the Push 3 up there if I owned it.

Boss DR-660. i got so many full tracks out of that when i was at college in 95-97

The easiest, fastest, most fun and one of the cheapest: The Model:Cycles :sunglasses:
Actually, the SP-404mk2 is also one of my favorite

  5. MC-707

Weighted towards the speed and quality of my output using them. Or the order i would sell them (bottom first)

I’ve owned a lot too. I’ve been in this stupid search for the perfect one for a while. So here’s my 2 cents based on the quality of the stuff I made with them:

  1. Ableton Push
  2. Maschine (every version, including +).
  3. Dirtywave M8 Tracker (I wasn’t into trackers, but boy you can make it sing)
  4. Deluge
  5. MC 707

OT
M8
Both capable of creating incredibility versatile sounds, with a hugely appealing resampling workflow. Nothing I’ve used has the ability to create such expressive and dynamic sound design with fantastic arrangers too. Elektron gear has a lot going for it in that sense, but the OT’s use of sampling takes it that next step up imo.

M+ and MC707

Radical technologies Spectralis- imo.Resisting obtaining atm for the same reason I’m holding off getting another OT because the learning curve.Steep but worth it.Maybe I need to get both again and devote the rest of my electronic endeavours to them……or just crack on with Ableton ))

At least for techno (et similia), the most fun to use in all scenario, in my opinion, is the Analog RYTM (although I have the mk1).
Synthesized drums + basic synth + basic sample player (all 3 layerable) + indipendent track lenght + cond trigs + scenes + performance.
On Mk2 add the live sampling capability + performance knob + full usb audio + 2x CV inputs…
Beast.

(Edit: forgot that master bus Overdrive+Compressor… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

Be interested to see the correlated data. I’d expect it to be weighted towards Elektron boxes because of where we are, but they aren’t running away with it I don’t think. Or maybe they are?

Deluge

Creativity: Syntakt.
Improv Live performance: Perkons
Capabilities and expressiveness: Push 3

Though push is close second when it comes to creativity. To push it to that first position they need to incorporate a few features first.

After enough frustration, OT wins over MPC, its just more playable.

So as always. To each their own :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I would say
OT and Rytm

Realisticly if Push 3 is ready someday it should be hard to compete against that beast.

I mean, increasingly it’s the Synthstrom Deluge. The community firmware stuff is pushing it waaaaaay over the top.

For me the combination of Circuit Tracks and SP 404 MK2 that‘s in my head is the best groovebox ever not made.
