havent listened to this one in years. Thought i knew it pretty well but was taken by how visceral it is throughout, and the word that kept going through my head was ‘coherent’. Like, as much as i love the latter-day (circa 2013 to the present day) æ stuff, ‘coherent’ isnt a word that ever springs to mind, at least not compared to this mid-period stuff. this one slaps. also, listening to it on headphones and i could hear a lot of extra stuff happening super-super low in the mix, like whole other soundscapes/harmonic textures that i hadnt known were there before.

These two quite different EPs from Carmen Villain has been on repeat here the last couple of weeks. I really hope whatever she is up to next, will be a mixture of these two, because both are absolutely brilliant and inspiring.

Just ran across this NTS Radio archive of the late Andrew Weatherall’s excellent “Music’s not for everyone” show. Tons of inspiring music to dig into. I will probably be revisiting these on a regular basis.
