They call NYC the Concrete Jungle, so that may work. You got a link?
I wish I you would send this to E-A-Ski. Nice job making this sonic madness!
Anyone using an MPC with a chroma console or sp404 only for performance effects? I see MPC 3.0 can do some cool qlink macros to improve on what is now a pretty meh feature set for performance effects. Iād like something quick, fun and immediate, but am getting impatient waiting on 3.0 to see if itāll have better performance effects/features.
I often put my SPmk2 with my MPC and Force, but not just for performance effects. I use the skip back to catch sweet noodling, I use it as a send FX box (both mine have an extra pair of outs), I sample things from the Akaiās into the SP, chop/effect/scramble/resample, then send it back to the Akaiās inās. And/or save it to the SPās SD card to jam on there later.
Havenāt gotten around to firing samples on the SP with midi tracks from the MPC yet but thereās only so many hours in a day. And work and life and such.
Then, because my 2 Akaiās are massive, I can take the SP to McDonalds and eat French fries while I jam, take that fresh beat back to MPCā¦ see what Iām talking about?
I definitely want a Chroma Console but thatās gonna be more like next years birthday present to myself. I do think of the SPmk2 as a $500 FX pedal that samples and loops and sequences among other things.
Have a chroma console. Got it as a Xmas gift from the wifey. It looks nice, but the fx arenāt anything special. It does add some nice saturation/loudness to the signal for my synths that I like a lot. And the delays are quite good in combo with this, but it otherwise hasnāt blown me away. That being said I find it quite convenient to use and not in a hurry to trade it for something else.
Thanks, sounds like an interesting and fun workflow. Iām surprised nobody has made a purely performance based effects box similar to the sp404 with pads, etc. In fact I bet if Roland came out with a SP-Effects type box that was just the effects of the sp404 in a sleek package with some added effects and slightly cheaper price tag, people would be all over it.
I have a Chroma Console. Havenāt used it with my MPC, but I think itās a fantastic pedal. 4 highly useable fx at a time in one pedal, reorder the signal chain super quick, record modulations, micro looperā¦itās fantastic and versatile. I put a GFI Specular Tempus behind it and can cover a lot of ground live looping my bass vi alongside my jams. Been meaning to try it with the MPC one day.
Watched two Benn Jordan reviews on the Key 61. First one was pretty scathing, but I actually learned a couple things I didnāt know about creative ways to use it for semi generative music. Iām on the road for a couple weeks but canāt wait to get back home to try some of these ānewā techniques I discovered
Kaos Pad?
After diving deeper into the sampling/ resampling workflow and getting the MPC One working well with the Cirklon, Iāve gotta say I canāt believe I ever sold it. Next project will be attempting to use the MPC VST to pipe it directly into Ableton over USB. My Push 3 SA is looking at me nervously from the corner - I more or less havenāt touched it since re-purchasing the MPC in May, other than to troubleshoot some issues.
Sounds like weāre on a similar path of rediscovering the MPC while the Push discharges itself and collects dust.
Got one of those tiny CME WIDI Uhost boxes (even smaller than I thought it would be) to plug into my Yamaha acoustic piano which does USB MIDI when in its āsilentā mode, so I can use it as a controller without the faff of cables. And woah it works perfectly with the in built bluetooth midi in the MPC Live II.
It advertises that it can do as low as 3ms latency and though it might be a bit more for me I didnāt notice any real lag when playing the piano. Might get a few more of these as life without the hassle of midi cables is pretty beautiful.
Itās ridiculous how many good things like this are built into the MPCs.
This is how I use my bass station II with the one plus and my desktop, I got the nektar version called WIDI flex, just a doddle to set everything up wire free, best few quid Iāve spent in a whileā¦
Iām thinking of getting an mpc one as a sound module for my cirklon, anyone knows if the internal synth and sampler respond to midi ccs? I canāt find a midi implementation chart.
Your main issue will be the terrible midi channel bug they still havenāt fixed. I think youāll be fine with CCs and can create custom mappings but the main issue will be that youāll get note offs on all channels when one gets a note off. To bypass the bug youāll need to send each channel as a different midi device.
Hopefully they fix this with 3.
Hi, Just got an OG MPC One. How do I make sure everything writes to my SD card and not the internal storage? Thanks.
