ok the mk2 screen is a BIG upgrade. I’m sure most of you already know this. newsflash

I’ve had my mk1 and have been looking to upgrade to the mk2 for a while, but it’s about twice the price used and for the same money i can probably get a used Take 5 or Peak etc.
How is the difference in sound for you? Also do you find turning the knobs easier? I find it annoying on the mk1 that for a lot of values, i need to push down and turn to make big adjustments all the time

I like the sound better, but it might also be because I know it better now.
The controls are definitely quicker, more natural, I never push the encoders. And the quick performance knob makes it possible to change both a delay setting and a track setting at the same time.
The form factor is a bit awkward at first, but now I really appreciate it.
The screen and graphics are notably improved.
The separate outs are a real plus on stage if you have a kick on a track.
I like the Mk2 better, I get more pleasure to play with it, and I’ve sold my Peak.
But I can understand that the upgrade is expensive, hard to say if it’s worth it for you.
If you’re patient, some can be found for less than 800€… Maybe the price will go down next time Elektron drop a new piece of gear.
My advice: stick to your mk1, keep on playing with it, give it more time as a stand-alone machine. Once you have enough money, reconsider the upgrade…

Can I quote you on that in What’s next for Elektron? 
In all honesty it has nothing to do with Elektron plans. I would love a successor to A4 that would make it obsolete, but I have absolutely no info on this. Only that for some reason A4 is regaining some popularity since the last AR firmware update.
Maybe they will update the A4 and the price will rise again, who knows

AK was actually my first Elektron, after missing out on a “cheap” A4mk2. I still have it with the cv outs and audio ins connected to a patch bay. Will keep it as long as I have space and the screen is usable…
